Too many variables to provide insight on "how much" you can make.

What do you consider part-time? In other words, how much of your time are you dedicating to mystery shopping?
Where do you live? Your location matters.
What MSC's have you signed up with? I'm sure you don't want to list all your companies you signed up for, but this matters as well. Same with your relationship with the schedulers, as they can influence the bonuses and the kinds of shops you're offered and assigned.
What kind of assignments are you aiming for?

You get the picture.

If it helps any, I only mystery shop part-time and fill up on assignments as soon as I see them and don't focus on bonuses. I focus on my assignments to revolve around groceries and food. On my normal pace (at least 1-2 food assignments a day, with as many as 5 assignments in a day), I gross around $700-800 on fees doing this. So is your purpose to make as much money as possible?

Making money isn't my focus, so my results are probably looked at differently compared to other shoppers on here.

There is no way that you could be shopping for any company! Who's the joker!
Can I get a mystery shopping job in the Minneapolis St Paul area? can someone give me a name and or number?
Mystery shopping is not a job where you are hired on as an employee. We are all independent contractors running our own small businesses. The various mystery shopping companies are more like our clients, they get to choose if they want to work with us and we get to choose if we want to work with them. We are not limited as to the number of companies we shop for and in order to find the best variety of assignments many shoppers are registered with 100 to 200 companies.

Wander on over to the section titled "New Mystery Shoppers." The first ten or 12 threads are devoted to a variety of subjects to help start your mystery shopping career.

Welcome to the forum, deloncray. At the bottom of the page is a great list of 200 companies. After signing up with them, you will be able to check their job boards to look for jobs in your area.

How much can you make? It depends on how much you want to put into it. If you want to do it part-time, you can get about $300 - $400/month (15 jobs/week). If you want to do it full-time, you can expect $800 - $900/week (50+ jobs/week). However, not all MSCs pay on the same schedule. Some MSCs may pay a month behind, some pay the last Friday of each month, and some take 60+ days to pay. MS is not for "quick cash".

What are the jobs? It varies from region to region, MSC to MSC, and your experience. If you are just starting out, you are going to be getting the cell phone, fast food, gas station, and retail visits. Before you get the higher paid shops, you need to establish a great rapport with your MSC. Be the rock they can count on. If a scheduler calls/emails/texts you and asks to get a job done, tell them sure!! I did this with one MSC for a few months. I was grinding out the tedious jobs that nobody wanted to do, and I would accept any job that came my way. Eventually that MSC called me and asked if I wanted to try out a hotel shop. It ballooned from there.

Where do you find them? On your MSC job board. HOWEVER, you are competing with other MS'ers in your area. There are lurkers that will camp on the job boards, refreshing until they see their favorite shop, and they will pounce on it like a hyena. Your best bet is to follow the advice others have given you. Camp, refresh often, and be the first to respond to emails and calls.

A bonus tip: If you are one of those people that do not answer phone numbers you do not know, stop it!!! Every call can be a potential MS recruiter with a job. Remember, you are building a solid portfolio with your MSC, so answer those calls!!!
Holy cow, it wears me out just thinking about 50 shops a week!

swilliams1, welcome to the forum. How much you can make doing this part time depends on how much time you have to shop and what is available in your area. You will need to sign up with lots of companies (over a hundred) to find enough work. If you do any of the shops that require what we call narrative, which is written description, you'll need to use more formal language to report your shops than what you used in your post. I understand that many people are now communicating in textese (is that a word, it should be) but in mystery shopping the language of choice is still English.

If you would like to brush up your writing skills, your local library can offer some books that will be helpful.

At the bottom of each page of the forum, you will find a link to a list of companies. Start signing up and keep at it. For general information, go to the New Mystery Shoppers section of this forum and read the first few threads completely. You will find a lot of what you need to know right there. After you've signed up with the mystery shopping companies, study their tutorials which will be another good source of knowledge. Best of luck to you.

dayloncray, you got good advice from LisaSTL. You'll need to think of this as a business rather than a job. You'll be working for a bunch of different companies and you'll be picking up new companies constantly as you find more desirable work. Start out with a few companies and add a few every day. For starters I suggest Maritz, Market Force, Best Mark, Bare, and Expert Solutions.

I bet there is a match to some other member. The spelling is over the top wrong and not texting speak wrong only.
Suspicions like that might be better shared privately by using the "report" button to communicate directly with the moderator. If the suspicion is correct, the mod can deal with it. Making a post on the open forum calling a new poster a troll is not only rude and insensitive, it seems like a personal attack.
swilliams1, please hang in there with us. There's a bunch of good information on this forum and mostly we're considerate of each other. If you let the bad apples stink up the barrel for you, you'll miss out on a lot of fun and sharing with other mystery shoppers. The forum welcomes and needs new members. Some of us old ones are maybe more trouble than we're worth. (I picked up that line from someone who once said to me, "Mary, you're more trouble than you're worth."winking smiley

As of now, for the week of November 17, I have 42 shops scheduled...and the number is likely to grow before I'm through.
