WARNING: Rejected arches shop do to "Implied instructions" not spelled out in shop instructions.

Many MSCs adopt this kind of trick to elicit a report for the client free of cost. HS Brands International
does not spell out in majority of their instructions that shopper has to speak name of MSC/location/date/time
before starting the audio recording. They frequently reject reports under the pretext that HS brands was not
spoken.Ever since I got my first shop rejected on this count,I have caught on to this trick and am speaking
name of MSC even if it is not spelled out in the guidelines. They refuse to accept their mistake and no escalation
officer is advised to appeal against their mistake.

I posted the exact quote from the MSC. This is the official response.

Oh, the part about restarting the timing was part of the quote? Got it. It wasn't clear where the quote ended; that was the source of my confusion.

My apologies for questioning you.
I read the lengthy instructions and they DO say you will not change lanes unless someone directs you to change lanes.

When I do that shop (very rarely now) I use a recorder. The video does not see me look at my watch or write a note but the timing is "split second". I might tell my recorder, "A gift from the gods, I am next" or simply "wow, that was nice"

When I get far away from the location I can listen, look at my digital watch and write my every move at the exact time and record the employees every movement. "dinner is served, or "got Katsup?" when the tray hits the counter for example. I repeat the total when the server says the total. etc.
To me it reads the problem was not changing lines it was assuming the cashier at the empty register would have called you over in another five seconds. Maybe they would have, maybe not.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

I think I'm going to use that line the next time I complete one of those shops, whether or not I'm recording anything. grinning smiley
Very weird. I probably have done the very same thing as it seems like a normal thing to do.
wow, talk about opening a can of worms. "Implied" usually refers to what a logical person would do but as mystery shoppers we are supposed to follow MSCs instructions to the letter, we are not supposed to think for ourselves. By changing lanes, you are timing the location's ability to handle their flow of customers. By not changing lanes you are timing one cashier's, I mean Order Taker's, ability to handle their flow of customers.

What I see more often than not is that customers waiting to order make one line and advance to order points as they become available, like you do at the bank. I did two arches today and at both, there was one lineup and multiple order points.

Appreciate the heads up. I will err on the side of joining a shortest line and starting the timing when one line is shorter than the others. I'll just stand back away from the lines and blankly look at the menu boards and "type" on my phone - until it is time to start timing.
Oops, I hit the reply button by mistake, but I think exilion's idea to stand back from any line is good when you're faced with a situation like this. Or you could turn sideways with your back to the cashier at the empty register and just wait until the cashier in your line is ready to take your order. If you're turned away, they wouldn't be able to motion you over.
I don't know if the MSC is reading this forum and has a strange sense of humor, or they didn't read it and the computer code that they use to decide who can shop what kicked in. I am back on the shops AND the shop I was declined was available for me to shop again. confused smiley

No, I didn't take the shop. I was tempted to though.
