You Look Fuzzy

I turned 40 this year and I'm pretty sure my eyesight has deteriorated. Can anyone help me figure out which MSC's shop eyeglass stores? I've signed up with lots of companies and have yet to come across these. They must not advertise them on Jobslinger in my area, because I'm signed up with every company that advertises on there in my area. I get those annoying ShadowShopper emails and they list some, but I'm not paying to sign up with them to see which company it is. Occasionally ShadowShopper will give me "freebie" listing, but it's always for some survey website that is well known to be a scam/spammer.

I'm hoping to find a shop that includes an initial eye exam.

The only one I ever did didn't include an exam I had to mail in the glasses. I know there are some where the chain has a buy one get one deal and you send in one and keep the other but I haven't found them yet.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I don't remember the MSC but I used to get glasses for the whole family. We had to have an eye exam first. I'd suggest that you call around and see who has the cheapest exams. I was very unhappy with one of the places I shopped because of their lack of service and the high cost of glasses. I got my glasses on a shop for a place that didn't have much of a choice but at least I got some I like. That was last July. I'm hoping to hear about them again.
do you have insurance? I did a shop at one of those chains...I would have to look up the name....but after reimbursement is still cost be about $225 out of pocket...AND THE GLASSES BROKE a couple years later....I still have my glasses from when I was 13 and in the ones from college....that got a lot more wear and tear and are still in good condition...

if you don't have insurance, you are better off just going to a cheap place like walmart
I don't think my insurance covers optical. I'll have to check. It seems like that was an add on, and my hubby and I don't wear glasses (yet).

The eye doctor is a separate entity from any chain eye glasses rip off company.

Go get your exam and script. I had a good exam from an optometrist for $45.

Then go online and order your glasses from:

[eyeglassretailerreviews.com]

or for strong glasses or higher end:

[eyeglassretailerreviews.com]

You will need to measure your pupil distance and know your frame size.
and i got the cheapest frames they had....they were still overly expensive...they only had high end designer frames....

i have dollar store sun glass that had better frames!
It sounds like I should forget about it being a shop and go to a reputable place. Thanks, ya'll. I'll do that. Thanks for the links, @scanman1!

Try buying the cheap magnification glasses at Walmart. You can get three pairs for $10. Start with 1.25X or 1.5X. I've been using them at progressively stronger magnification for almost ten years. They're great!
Walmart, Costco, Sams, JCP, Sears, etc, all have eye exams and glasses. I know going on JCP.com you can sometimes get coupons. Price them. Lenscrafters always mails coupons. Do a little legwork on the phone and internet. Godd luck.
I paid for an exam and got my glasses online through Zenni Optical. They aren't high end, but they have lasted two years with no issues and I paid no more than $40 for them (I can't remember the exact total). You do have to have the pupil distance when ordering. Some health insurances cover an eye exam (but no the glasses of course).
It won't help with the exam but we get the glasses from Zenni Optical online. You just enter in your prescription details (you'll have to ask for your prescription) and the glasses start at just $8.00. We were absolutely amazed. We've used them several times and they're very good. I think they come from Asia somewhere so probably made by some 10 year old sad smiley
I think an online manufacturer would work for basic glasses, but mine are progressive bifocals, with high-index lenses for my extra-strong prescription. They cost a LARGE chunk of change! I prefer to buy local so I can easily return to the store with any issues I have.

If you wear trifocals, you may not be able to order them online. I also wore prescription sunglasses. I was about to move up to trifocals but didn't want the expense. I have to be able to read while wearing sunglasses. I went to get Foster Grants that can be placed over regular glasses. Walgreens is one of the chains that has that kind. Not every Foster Grant display in chain stores has them. It's a good thing I did that because my new dog chewed up my sunglasses. I had to go out and buy some more.
the one I did is okay if you have insurance that covers most of the exam..you would probably end up paying about the total cost of walmart with the reimbursement.....but last i heard walmart offers a 1 year guarantee
Have a good eye exam. If you have health insurance they will cover one eye exam a year, not the glasses. My doctor told me to buy my eye glasses at the drug store if all you need is readers. Lenscrafters are a rip off.

I haven't seen any eye glass shops for a few years.
I have done several. The first one you had to send the glasses back in but I had a BOGO coupon so I got to keep one set. You had to have a current prescription, they would pay for an exam at the place but I have not seen them again since the beginning of last year. Maybe soon? I would take a closer look at all your MSC's to see if it is there.

The second one I did, you had to have a prescription and they paid up to $150 for the glasses. I found a great pair of frames and using Visa gift cards that I had received from shops, I was left to pay $21. If I were you I would target your local MSC's.

The third pair I got said that the glasses did not have to be for me so I got my mom a pair. Had to have a current prescription. They only paid $125 but had a good promotion going at the eye shop and so mom got a pair of glasses for $60. I would key in on eye specialists with eye surgeries in their package.

Hope to get me another pair this year and also son!

I just did a shop at a national eyeglasses chain, for $30 pay and $250 reimbursed, for a pair of prescription glasses (not including the eye exam). I don't know if it's OK to say the name of the Shopping Company in this case. I am very happy with my glasses! Signed, Night Owl, actually only 2:50 pm this time.
MelNel - try America's Best....I go there and the exams are so inexpensive. You don't have to make your purchase there - just get your prescription. Then go to bestbuyeyeglasses.com for some crazy inexpensive prices! Or Walmart - for instore purchases!

I get my glasses from Coastal Contacts. They have designer brands at great prices.

I did a shop for a reimbursed eye exam with a discount on the glasses. I don't know if I can name the company on here. They want you to pay to join and get jobs from them, but you don't have to pay to get jobs from them.
