Eyeglass Shops

I sure hope an eyeglass shop comes up soon. My glasses are wearing out. It has only been about two years since I got them on a shop but the lenses are scratched. Having a shop will give me an excuse to get my eyes checked soon.

If I remember correctly, the eyewear shops that reimbursed for an exam (if you completed two shops) came out about this time in 2014 and 2013. With those shops, however, you did not get to keep the glasses.

The harder I work, the luckier I get.
There was actually one that did not reimburse the medical exam, but reimbursed $95 and paid $5. You were required to have a valid (less than a year old) prescription. They usually came out around July-August every year but I didn't see them last summer.
There have been some via a sslow sskheduling company that reimburses plus a shopper fee.
I don't see why I'd mix my glasses in with a shopping assignment. Buying glasses retail in the USA is such a scam that I order them from overseas. Even with insurance, or a MS to cover part of the scam pricing, it is a complete rip off.

I'll take 5 pairs of Zenni glasses over a pair of the ones obtained in the USA:

Scanman, I have not been able to get trifocals by shipment. A friend's family all order from the company you mentioned.

If you don't do progressive, then trifocals require exact fitting. You need to stay local and have them fitted.

Do progressives give you a headache?
There is a shop on our Jobs Board right now. Not much of a break, but some help.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I love, love, love my progressives. Took about 20 minutes to get used to my first pair. I am very nearsighted. I do use computer glasses for the computer distance though because the progressives mid range lens is too narrow and I would need to hold my head in a weird position to focus on the screen. It's just easier and more comfortable to use computer glasses. I got new progressives and a new pair of 'puter glasses last year from two mystery shops. The computer glasses were covered with the reimbursement and store coupons and AAA. The progressive cost me a bit, but were a great discount with the generous reimbursement. (about $600 down to $300) I haven't seen them posted lately, but if they are, keep in mind that unless you have a pretty simple script, you will be paying out of pocket quite a bit for fancy frames and lenses.

scanman1 Mail order are only really good for single vision no issue glasses. You DO get what you pay for!
CanadaMommy, I didn't want to try progressives because I didn't want any issues while driving, for example. My husband tried progressives. He couldn't wait to get them replaced. He said he felt like he would fall off the sidewalk onto the street.
I have progressive lenses and they work extremely well for me. As long as I have eyeglass insurance coverage, I will stay with walk-in stores. But I suspect that change is coming!

Thank you all for your supplies. I am continuing to monitor the MSC that I think had all of the keep-'em glasses shops.

By the way, I used to get prescription sunglasses, too. And prescription "fog" glasses (for days when the sunglasses are too much but I needed something). The fog glasses went by the wayside because of money. I kept dropping and scratching my sunglasses. When I ran over them in the driveway, that was the last straw. I now get Foster Grant Solar Shields which fit right over my prescription eyeglasses. The main drawback is that sometimes when I am sitting in the car getting ready to leave, I can't understand why I can't find my sunglasses and guess what??? The new dog chewed them up once so I was glad to have to spend less than $20 for replacement. Mine are a large shape. So far I haven't found a case that will fit them. I'm thinking about just sewing together a piece of cloth for them. It will reduce scratching.
I don't know how I got "supplies" out of "replies". I wasn't even speaking. I was writing.
