Since everyone came up with such creative reasons for a member who wanted a scenario for a hotel, I thought I would pose my situation. I have some assignments to call places to rent a suite for a month in various cities. The MSC suggested some possible scenarios (moving to the area/waiting for house to be built, business trip, visiting family). I'll bet some of you can come with some other clever/realistic ideas. To clarify, in the scenario I do not live in the areas where I'm calling. I have to be visiting for a month. Thanks in advance.

Called in for training/consulting.

You're a writer and are researching an article.

You're a performer of some kind and will be there with some other performers in your troup (if you're allowed this scenario, as sometimes they just want you to be renting a room for yourself.)

You are a traveling teacher or medical professional and go where you're needed most.

You heard good things about such-and-such a city and are considering moving there.

You have a relative having a baby. Their home is too small or full for you to stay here, but you want to be nearby.

You are considering adopting a child from that area and are visiting the birth mother.

You are getting a divorce and need some personal space.

Local, seasonal events (e.g. Oktoberfest, Halloween events, what's playing in the theaters, museum showings, et cetera) drew you.

You were adopted and are trying to find out more about where you came from.

You're studying local wildlife for work or a school project.

You are somebody's Personal Assistant. They own several properties in the area but lived there long ago. They need you to locate an expensive or sentimental item but can't remember exactly where they left it. You have been sent to find it, if possible, and to arrange for some properties to be renovated before being sold. You are also to help prepare for your employer's impending move back into one of the properties. You also need to look for new for living quarters for yourself, and you're just so overwhelmed.

You're an amateur ghost hunter and want to investigate the area.

Do research using local archives that are only available in hard copy

Performing interviews for a large survey research firm

Abstracting medical records for a big health study

Getting treatment at a local clinic or visiting some one who is

Participating in a clinical trail at a local medical facility

Doing local groundwork for a political campaign (aka, being a "front man"

Visiting to study with a special coach (music/sports/yoga/lifestyle/business)

You're expanding and recruiting new members for your cult, and research shows locals in that area are most receptive to your message.

The voices told you to rent there for a month, and you've learned to not question the voices.

What can I say! Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I asked for creative and I certainly got it!!! I did the first call today and said that we wanted to spend a month in the area exploring it and visiting friends. When I do three more next month, I will put some of your ideas to use.
