Heads up, don't take the pokemon audits!!!

I'm furious right now. I applied for this shop that I figured would require 4 or 5 photos, and a little observation, but there is 20 pages packed with questions. I've done around 500 shops since June and have never seen anything remotely like this. I have to count every single pokemon related thing imaginable. It's a non reveal, what am I supposed to do, keep this info in my head??? Biggest rip off of a fee too. Initial fee was $8, and all I got was a 5 bonus. I don't know, i can't even think straight right now i'm so annoyed/insulted/overwhelmed by this, but i guess i gotta go do the shop. what i'm trying to say is, don't apply!

Well I guess this will be my first cancellation. I went there, and made an attempt, but the amount of stress it would've taken to do the job would require $100 minimum. I'm curious to know if anyone has done this shop? It's funny, I did a bunch of tobacco compliance audits today which are the easiest jobs ever(although it's awkward, and people can get upset when they fail), and then followed it up with the worst of all time.

I'm thinking...were you allowed to text yourself all the things you saw pokeman related?

Either way, I would not do this shop...tongue sticking out smiley
Audits can be great or crazy depending on the company involved. I love doing certain audits and will grab them on sight. There are other companies that I will never do an audit for ever again.

Audits generally burn up lots of paper and toner and out you as a shopper to every employee at the location. If it is a location that you EVER want to shop again and you do an audit or prize give away type shop where you have to get the manager to sign a paper, then you can forget about shopping it again for a long time.

On the same note, I did a prize type shop at Perkin's and signed up for the email club to get a discount and they mailed me a BOGO email coupon and I went back less than a week later and they would still would not have received the prize. I was there for about five minutes until they all started whispering and looking at me as the shopper from the recent visit. I don't know if it changed the level of service, but everything was perfect and generous portions. We got more table checks than if I was at fine dining from the manager and the waitress.

I know what company you're talking about and I do not do audits for them anymore. I did one audit at a grocery store for this company and it took at least an hour an a half, NOT INCLUDING REPORTING TIME. I only got paid $10. The company is cheap, and it's obvious they exploit their shoppers. It's so disappointing. The only way you could get done in half an hour would be to cheat and not count everything that's missing.
@Evalu8this, I agree with you regarding the MSC taking advantage of shoppers. They're not the only ones who do it either, but it seems to me some of the emails/descriptions of shops are deliberately misleading to trick inexperienced shoppers into taking jobs that don't pay nearly what they're worth. How many times have I gotten emails about an "easy" or "quick" car dealership shop with a "great pay" of $17.00??

I haven't done the audit the OP is mentioning but I've received emails for it, and after seeing the fee, I'd never have thought it was as extensive as he/she is saying.
If I accept a shop from any MSC that I feel is underpriced after reading the guidelines and report, I immediately contact the scheduler to cancel it, and I explain why. I don't care if it's due the next day or next week. I value my time, I know what it's worth, and my minimum rate is firm.

i mean i could have, that's what i started to do, but it would've taken forever. you also needed all the sku #'s, and to say what the stock level was on each item. it was just ridiculous, man, and an insult to shoppers to offer this shop for the fee they are. i will say that the other shop i've done for them was really easy, and only involved taking a few photos of a fountain machine at a private high school. still, i'm most likely done with this company after the pokemon abomination.
I think this is the shop that frequently has cutesy email titles. Cutesy email titles are a no-no for me. If you have to get cutesy or try to lure me with a cape (hero citation) then it's not worth it honey. Move on!

Thank you for letting us know about that shop. It's a frequent flier.

I've been ignoring these emails until I read this thread. I just got another one and read it. It says quote, "We have completed about 150 visits at various locations and calculated that Field Agents are spending an average 30 minutes." ♫Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies ♫
Another one that insults me is when they use some cursive font. If the scheduler needs to dress the email up with a fancy font to make the job look more appealing, then it's given that the job is a steaming pile.
I have actually completed several of these audits. I don't recommend going out of your way to complete them but if they fall into an area you are traveling it can be worth it. I found the key is to take good photos and use those to answer the questionnaire when you are at home. Once you complete one you know what to look for in the store. 10-15 mins in store and 20-30 mins for the report.
Thanks for the heads up. Almost did the one in toysrus. Does this company still shop whole foods?
I see quite a few of these audits in my area right now. For anyone who has done them, how long do you realistically think it would take to complete? Is printing the pages necessary? And what fee do you think is appropriate? I kind of want to try one but not if it will take more than an hour or so. The current fee is $18.

well looking back, this is sort've embarrassing to read, but yea... the pokemon audit was awful. i haven't bailed from a shop since that one. maybe if you are into pokemon it wouldn't bother you. like if it was wrestling figures instead of pokemons, i would've been able to pull through.
