How to get experience points

Having done mystery shopping for nearly 3 years with just a couple of companies, I decided to branch out. However, the new companies I registered with want shoppers to have a minimum of 5 rating points or 8 rating points etc. I realize they don't want flakes. How does one get rating points to start building up experience? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

While SASSIE companies show their ratings up front, in reality all companies want some experience with you before trusting you with shops. So take a look at the job board and if you see something, especially this late in the month, that still needs to be done this month, ask for it if you can stomach it. While you may see a bonus on it, you may not and find the shop is 'totally not worthwhile' (which is why it is probably still on the job board). But it gets your foot in the door and can get you started with ratings. Knock yourself out and go for a 10.
Have you contacted anyone from those companies such as a scheduler? They should lead you in the right direction with overriding this and assigning you some shops.

Just shoot out an email inquiring about assignments you're interested in and / or what assignments they'd be willing to assign as a 'first' shop for the company.

Those companies usually start you off with a 5 and they should offer shops that allow those with a 5 to accept them. A rating of 5 after doing shops for them is incredibly low and to be honest, unheard of (aside from my 3.5 on my first ever shop where I had no clue what I was doing!). Once you do the first one, your score will improve and after that, you should be able to apply for or accept better and better shops. Good luck, I'm sure you will do great smiling smiley

Love that advice Flash. I hope to remember it this year. My biggest problem not getting other shops is I don't spread my wings, even when I encourage others to do so.

I'm trying to remember something when I was a little kid...if you don't try, you'll never know. And also trying to remember my mantra when sales controlled my paycheck, what's the worse that can happen?, they say no.

For the OP, my advice is sign up especially at the end of the month, even if it isn't profitable. Great scheduler's remember shoppers who hit at it the end of the month.

A lot of times, the MSC's will use scheduling companies to do the scheduling. While you may not have experience on one MSC, the scheduler may recognize you from another MSC that they also work on. This is another reason to always do your best job as doing a bad job on one will affect you on others.
