and as an independent contractor, they are subject to the same anti discrimination laws as regular employers.

Completely inaccurate. For example, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which covers race discrimination in employment, which is appears is the issue about which the OP is inquiring) covers employees, but not independent contractors.

oops..thanks for noticing, i meant NOT subject.....

To add to what bg said....The is such a shortage of shopper of color that maný schedulers need you! Client of many sorts want all ethnic and age groups to rotate through their assignments. The key may be that you and your bf need to apply to different MSCs if your computers are on the same ip address. Bty, àt least one client of Imforma insists that every brand be shopped by several ethnic and age and gender groups on every rotation. They would probably be delighted to see you and their shops pay very well.

I had an interesting experience recently. I am a "young senior," caucasian female. I signed up for a shop, thinking it was at a new outlet shopping mall. It was, instead, in a very non-diverse neighborhood. I sat in the parking lot for 20 minutes and did not see another caucasian. I called the scheduler, and told her that I was not adverse to doing the shop, but that I thought it would be a dead give-away that I was a MS, since I could not envision a scenario where I would just happen to be in the neighborhood and pop in to the store in question. I later received an email, saying that they contacted the client who wanted me to go ahead. I received great service in the store, and I believe that this was their standard level of service, but I could not help but feel that I had been "made." The shop went well, but I think they would have been better served by using an African American.
I had a similar experience in Hispanic market where I was shopping a "lifeline" telephone company. Everyone in the store spoke Spanish except me. Even the signs in the store were in Spanish, most without English translations. I was sure my blonde hair and blue-eyes screamed "shopper!"..

OK, I've gotta say it...maybe it's because of poor spelling and writing skills? It's possible...

Remember, that IntelliShop is one of the MSCs that does not like contractions, etc. I would look over your profile (including the extended profile) and see if there is any contractions. Get the writing style that they like from their FAQ's and try to write in that style. There is nothing that is meaning that way you write is not correct -- it is just not in the style that IntelliShop likes. Also, make sure that there is some length to that writing sample. If it is just a few sentences, I would write more. I looked and my extended profile writing sample for them is two decent sized paragraphs.and is a little over 1000 characters. That does not mean that mine is any better but I have no problems getting shops.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I think it's likely the combination of newbie and the same IP address has thrown them off. The suggestion to take any hard to fill shops in your area is a good one, IMHO.
My problem is age discrimination. Like people over 55 suddenly don't like chicken wings, etc.

I noticed that! I was planning to do a chicken shop until I saw the age. I couldn't figure the reason, except that maybe they think they have younger clientele. Weird.
I recently did a bank shop in China Town. I did not know at the time about the location. I went inside the branch and noticed all tellers, CSRs and customers were speaking in Chinese. I felt uncomfortable but wanted to do the shop. I sat with a CSR who was so professional and spoke perfect English. I sat down and said, "My husband is doing business across the street, I thought I would stop in and ask about your checking accounts, I know you have a branch near me." This broke the ice and I had a great report.
