MISTAKE????? or TRUE BONUS????

Well, here's a first......there is a popular MSC that does the USPS shops.....they have shops availabe to see if smaller stores charge a surcharge for using a particular credit card.....they pay $5.00 plus reimbursement up to $10.00. They look simple enough, so I applied for one of them.....then, LO & BEHOLD!! My eyes continue down the list of available locations, all showing the fee of $5.00.....EXCEPT for ONE location showing a fee of............$497.00!!! I kid you not!!!

So I took a screen shot of it, and applied, and was assigned! I went to my assignments, and looked in the info area, and it STILL shows $497.00!! So I took another screen shot!!!

Are they obligated to pay me this????

Oh, and after I did this, I checked my email, and there was an email from this company about these assignments...and this location was one of them, showing this same fee. There was another location about 25 miles from me showing a fee of $224.00, which apparently someone jumped on, because it wasn't available on the job site.

What do you folks think??? Can I hold them to this????

OH.....you know how you have to write something in that yellow box when you apply??? Well, after writing my usual, I added "And thank you for the bonus!" Wonder if they will see that??

I just picked up a $250+ and have a question in asking if the fee stated is correct.
Well those that were the high fees have been fixed to $5- My guess is no - because in the guidelines it specifically says it is a $5 shop fee and a $10 bonus. But, let me know if they are gonna pay u that.
I had one for $477. It now shows $5.
It's going back in the pool.

I picked up a few... there was one at $40, which was what I thought the regular fee was and I figured the $400 ones were mistakes. I would have done them at $40, but not at $5.

I saw those crazy fees, too. Did you google the addresses? Best to do that before taking the bait....

ETA: every fee was reset to $5. I wouldn't take them at $400, certainly not doing it for $5. They were in some rough areas. $5 my *** ;-)

Yeah, that's why I figured the fairly easy shops were worth it at $40. They weren't all uniformly in the shady parts of town (there were a few that were in good parts and one that was a nice part of town near a Chipotle that I'm likely going to be visiting anyway), but there were some stinkers in there.

My shop just popped back to $5 now that I have accepted it, so I cancelled and explained why the cancellation.
My area had about 5 available a few minutes ago, but now that the price has been corrected to $5, it seems like a lot of people have thrown those little fish back, and there are about 40 available now.
I explained in the pop up window the reason I was cancelling them, too.

The one here would justify a fairly substantial fee because of the location and type of business. My significant other had already agreed to go with me (since that was not forbidden in the guidelines) and we were trying to figure out what a store like that might sell for $5-$10 since most items would be $150+.
Did you email them to cancel or Decline from your inbox? I sent an email, but do not know the pop up box you are referring to.
I emailed to the address shown in the job post to send inquiries to asking for verification of fee. I immediately got back an 'Automated Reply' telling me to contact the scheduler. Hmmm. The scheduler was supposedly the person in the job post to send inquiries to, though it was not a person. That was why I returned to the shop and used the pop up box to decline.
Depends on how good you are at arguing and how far you want to take this. They can claim it was a mistake but you've already done the job based on what they said they'd pay you. That should easily stand up in small claims if you have to and choose to take it that far.

I just took a few of these shops, some of them at liquor stores. I emailed them to find out if I am allowed to purchase alcohol........smiling smiley They haven't responded yet.
Those large amounts are probably what the shop pays to the scheduler. It's really depressing to think that a scheduler is getting $400 + for one shop, but is offering only $5.00 to an IC to complete the shop for them. It feels even more demeaning when you think about the emails that read "BONUS $5 ON EASY SHOPS."

The numbers didn't seem like simple typos to me. It's just a theory. Maybe the schedulers are trolling each other.
In spreadsheets if you have two values of $5 on the first two rows, you can grab the first two rows with the values and drag it down and it will populate the whole grid with $5. But, if you accidentally only grab the second $5 cell and not the one above it and drag it down, it will populate $6 in the 3rd row, $7 in the 4th row, $8 in the 5th row, etc. I have a suspicion that that's what happened here. I could be wrong, but that would be my guess.

I saw several credit card type shops for $5 and one for $303. I didn't even bother with it. I'm sure they won't pay that.

No. They don't have to pay it. It's pretty obvious there was an error or fluke somewhere. ....

That's not even remotely obvious. I've seen $200 bonuses on $10 jobs on the board. It happens.

Sorry @JacobJ. That was out of character for me.

ETA: I read "I went to my assignments" to mean that she completed the assignment. Guess not.

WOW!! I guess quite a few folks saw the same thing! Well, I, too, got an email with an apology from the MSC:
====================
You recently self-assigned for the VISA Surcharge Mystery Shop! Thank you for your interest!

Firstly we would like to apologize for any inconvenience, it seems the shop pay was posted incorrectly. This shop has a PAY RATE of $5, and is REIMBURSED UP TO $10! We apologize for this confusion, and again thank you for your interest in our study!

====================
So I went in and clicked on the "X" button and cancelled, and when the pop up box came up asking for a reason, I simply typed, "I thought the fee was higher".

Easy come........easy go!!
Only 2 available in neighborhoods I will shop. A Law Office and a Video recording studio.

Your statement made me LMFAO. I know many schedulers who make less money than me and I MS only PT.
