Dumbed Down Coffee

Each morning the aroma of strong coffee wakes me up. I grind the beans as usual no smell, nothing. I make the coffee no smell nothing. I am not getting my fix lately. My coffee taste watery. Is it me or have coffee beans been watered down.

Are you sure you ground up *coffee* beans this time? Maybe you were so sleepy, you ground up something else. smiling smiley

Are you using a different brand than normal?

I also grind my own beans every morning, and use a coffee press rather than drip coffeemaker. Coffeemakers just don't get the water hot enough, and I dislike that it's only passing through the grounds briefly. I like the coffee press because I can boil the water very hot, which makes my coffee very strong, and I let it "steep" for about five minutes before pushing the plunger down to strain it.

I buy my coffee from BocaJava.com and it is awesome! I also love most of the brands carried at Whole Foods.

We use a Bodum pot/ french Press, and let it soak a bit longer than needed. With lots of milk, the result is "Americano," or some such thing. My husband spent time at a Starbucks trying to figure out what to order when we are out and about to get it like we have it at home. grinding the beans a bit more finely than recommended for a press press makes it stronger since there is more surface area.
StormCloud they were definitely coffee beans. BBird they are the same brand as normal. However the coffee beans and the packaging do look a bit different. Maybe the company changed the type of beans to cut cost. Heartlandcanuck and BBird, thanks for the suggestions about the coffee press. I have been checking them out online and decided to give one a try.

The title of this thread really caught my attention. I never thought of coffee as very smart to begin with, but now I have a new phrase to use. "She's a dumb as a bag of coffee beans - bless her heart."

(When I lived down south I learned that you can get away with saying anything as long as you say, "bless his/her heart" after it.)

Try either Whole Food espresso, you'll wake up. I also like Peets coffee. The normal brands you buy in the market are very weak like Folgers, etc.
