The "Bomb Cyclone"

I understand I live in the north country, but, I am not really ready for this. The forecast is for heavy snow and very cold temperatures. They refer to it as a 'bomb cyclone" eh!
I've spent much of today preparing my vehicle for the weather: Out go the wellies, in goes the snowmobile gear, the sand and the kit.
I have still half of my November shops to do - much of them in rural country. I have my insulated jeans ready, mittens and gloves that have fingertips exposed, when needed.
I was hoping to put all of this off until at least the first week of December.
Meanwhile, hubby sits in front of the flat screen watching football and throwing back PBRs. He had the snowmoblie and snowblowers ready weeks ago. The plow sits next to the drive awaiting its attachment to the snow truck.

Sigh

There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots

When you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing nobody
I remember going out for shops when the snow was at the roof top. You get used to it and go. Stores are open.
This may sound strange however do you have any cardboard laying about? Newspaper will work however a good sturdy piece of cardboard is best. You want to take the cardboard and lay it onto the windshield, tucking it under the wipers. Take some tinfoil and wrap the wipers then take a pair of socks and cover the tinfoiled windshield wipers. When you are ready to drive, remove all items and you will not have to remove snow and ice from the windshield. This will keep the wipers lasting all winter as well. You can also tarp the vehicle before the storm however the cardboard and newspaper both insulate the windshield making fogging issues very small. I have put cardboard on the outside of the windshield and newspaper on the inside of the windshield when I knew a bad storm was coming. When I removed it, the truck was 5 degrees warmer then the outside and I didn't have to worry about condensation forming while I was driving.

Last weird question. Do you have any tea light candles and coffee can? Drill a few small holes in the can. Place can over the candle. Instant heat source that is cheap! Also I carry a dutch oven cast iron pot that I can throw in some kindling. This is also a great heat source. Of course when you use these, please make sure the windows are cracked a hairsbreath.

Good luck to you! enjoy the snow!

Just lost trying to find a fire pit in a concrete jungle wishing it was a wooded glen...

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all
