Experiences with Signal Auditing Inc

Does anyone have any experience or know anything about about SAI, or Signal Auditing Inc? I see a posting by them on the job board section of the forum, but didn't come up with much when trying to do research on them online. Neither a forum search, nor a google search seem to yield much information on them. About all I could find out through Google was that it is a New York based company formed in 2012 that is somehow involved in detecting piracy of satelite company channels, but that's about it. I couldn't find a website for them.

When I look at their job ad, and see that they provide "leads", it makes me think that unlike a typical mystery shop, there is sales work involved with this. Does anyone know anything about this company?

It would still be a covert assignment so no sales. The leads would be for bars they have reason to believe may be pirating pay-per-view sporting events.

I applied for this company via their website about 2 weeks ago. From what I remember you sign up to be an auditor and when pay preview fights or sporting events come out they email you a list of approved places in a area you have preselected. Your job is to go out and find places that are Not on the approved list for that event. They do not give you leads, you have to decide what bars and locations you want to,check out based on research you have done on your own on the week of the event. They did not mention exact pay, only an estimate of what you Could make for any given event. If they ever get back to me I will update my post, but I'm not holding my breath. From what I gathered on the website most of their ICs are current and former law enforcement people.

I guess it's just when I read... "First off, do you enjoy making money? Of course you do. What if I told you we have independent contractors who hustle and make “six figure earnings” a year working with Signal Auditing? I am one of them, having made $8,000 on a Sunday afternoon!... we provide leads... " and talk about being "self-motivated", I start thinking sales job.

Lelou, do you know where the website for this company can be found? When I did a google search, I got some news articles, and some business directory websites, but not an actual website address for the company.
Snoopy, let me know how it goes for you and good luck!

Thanks. I think I'm a little on the fence about it... I like making money, but I don't like it being up to chance whether or not I succeed at it. Unlike with other mystery shops, with this, you most likely will always have to pay something in order to appear as a regular customer, but are not guaranteed to make money if you show up at an establishment. Only if they are doing something illegal, and you catch them do you make money, but who has a crystal ball to know exactly how many are doing this, or how many legit businesses you have to go through before finally finding one that isn't.
I think it all depends on your city. In my case whenever a big event is happening bars start promoting the event whether they are legally able to show it or not. I could go a mile from home in any direction and hit at least a dozen bars. However, as a business owner doing these would be rough on me. From what I understand if you do record a place that is illegally showing pay per view they pay a huge fine. For some business's something like that might be all it takes to shut them down. Not sure if I could do that to someone even though I understand the cable companies have to make money to survive as well.

I feel the same way. It's one of the reasons why I'm so fond of reward mystery shopping opportunities when they come along. I much rather help people get recognized for doing the right things when they are doing them, and helping them move up rather than play a role in their downfall when they aren't. Feelings aside, they do seem to offer quite a bit of money for each bust, but I wonder how many times an auditor must pay door fees, and other expenses before having it pay off with a commission. Even though it is not a sales job, it would seem like you would have to have a sales person's mentality to be successful at this as you can not allow yourself to be easily discouraged, and must accept that not every lead generated will make you money (or as a former boss once told me, for every 'no' you get, you are one step closer to a 'yes').

Overall, I think I might be more comfortable sticking to jobs that I know will pay, and not necessarily result in someone losing their job over a cause that I don't necessarily feel passionate about in the first place.
Everyone loves a narc! This is one of those things you're going to want to tell NOBODY about. And even then, if you're sussed out while in a bar? Good luck.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Exactly your basically a narc. Now I understand why mostly law enforcement people do signal auditing.
