Maritz assigned shops

Did I do something wrong? I just got assigned a multi-photo gas shop, 100 miles from my house. It states I requested this shop, when I did it last month. I don't think so... I can't even see how to cancel it, short of email. Has this happened to anyone else? If I were in the area, I might consider it but...

Same thing just happened to me..only with 30 shops! The only thing I can think of is when at the end of the report they ask if you would like to do this shop again, and to pick a week. I had no idea that it was a commitment. My problem is the 30 shops were all heavily bonused. Now they are showing up without any incentive. I am waiting until Monday to speak to "my guy."
Thanks, that does ring a bell. It was more would you be interested in doing it again, or something. You are correct, not a commitment.
Except it is a commitment. The reason I never say yes is because I'd rather say no and get the bonuses. Just call them and tell them you expected the terms and pay would be the same and if they are not, you can't justify the mileage.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I'm new at this, and had never seen anything like it before, but I took for granted that I was committing to mine. The question of which week I'd want to do them, and the reference to the rotation time, was a pretty clear signal that this wasn't just a theoretical question.

On the other hand, that question that Marketforce has sometimes, asking if it's an assignment I'd want to do again, is obviously a theoretical question.
That's why I always say I am not interested in being in the rotation. No, I'm not interested in this shop for $9.50, but I am for $25.
Yes, these are commitments. If you cancel them at this point, your rating and reputation might take a hit. I would keep the commitment to do them for this round and take it as a lesson learned. And next time choose the "no" option. I keep some of my shops in a rotation because they are close to where I live or close to other shops I perform on a monthly basis. Other shops I don't take as rotation because I know they will eventually get bonused. My area doesn't get the big bonuses that others talk about; too many shoppers here.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know some people will be more than happy to), these shops were on routes at much higher than the going rate. While it is obvious some people did not understand what was going on, it seems there is no logical reason for them to lose money, and that could conceivably be a lot of money, over a misunderstanding.

I respectfully but strongly disagree. I've been with Maritz for years, but if I was new to them, there would be no way of knowing that indicating interest in doing the same shop next month meant a *commitment* to do it at the *base price.*
Maritz added that question to this project two rotations in, and did so with no explanation as to what they think a shopper is agreeing to. I would advise everyone who suddenly finds themselves *committed* to doing a job for less than what you intended to call them and explain that you weren't offering to do the shops at the base price and that you can't do them at the base price, but you'd be glad to do them again for what you were getting paid when you answered the question.
For the record, I don't believe Maritz is employing any chicanery by including the question about doing it next month. They just haven't thought it through. Everything would be copacetic if they simply include the phrase "at the base price" in the question.

They may have been on routes for some, but I've been seeing it on the single shops that I've been doing. I'm doing them at 3-5 times the base price, and there's no way I'd ever accept being assigned them for the bas price alone.
You brought up the most important part of the equation. If Maritz never stated there would be a different, and reduced, fee then game over, no commitment.

The same thing happened to me today. I was suddenly assigned to the same location I had completed last month for $30 - all because I clicked "yes" in last month's report. Like many of you, at the time I thought I was simply expressing interest in the job next round. Of course, the fee listed for newly assigned round is a measly $11. I just wrote them an email explaining that I never agreed to complete the shop for this rate and would appreciate being asked before a shop is just assigned to me. I am also refusing to complete the shop at the base rate.
I got called today because I used the email link to tell them I would not take the shops unless bonused. She explained there was a misunderstanding and the confusion was wide spread.

I will not get dinged for not doing the shops and they are off my board. Let it be said the bonus was crazy (on purpose) because I was upset they assigned them without my permission and they are far from my house.

At the bottom of the page when you debrief they ask if you would be interested in completing the shop again. I checked the box. I said I would be interested but I did not agree to automatic assignment.

They have since changed the wording.

So NO, you did not do anything wrong.

O.o o.O

Happily shopping New England and beyond!!!!!
Kathee70, I received a similar call today, as well. Fortunately, they have removed my assigned shop also, and I won't be penalized.

I'm glad to hear they changed the wording at the end of the reports. The original wording gave no indication whatsoever that we were committing to conduct the same shops at the base pay rate.
