I've suspected that some of the MS's do this sometimes.

I agree. I think that there are some MSCs that sometimes pay their independent contractors even when they do not get paid by the client. There was a time when I was told that the client had not accepted my report but that I had done the shop correctly according to the guidelines and the company was going to pay me anyway.
My therapist fired me and told me I complain too much. I called suicide prevention and they told me to go ahead and pull the trigger. I went to church and the preacher shut the door in my face. My wife left me. My boss fired me. Everyone has unfriended me.

That just leaves MS Forum. I am staying and I INSIST that you all listen!

Treating this vocation though it may be "a little something on the side" with respect for the opportunity to get paid by someone who has no idea on whether you are trustworthy or not will do you much good in getting on with the really great MSC companies.
Schedulers that see you will sometimes do a shop for less than you think you should get might just see they can trust you with work that is really important to that particular MSC.
There is some very nice money to be made and many adventures into the lives of people you otherwise may never have the occasion to interact with. I love it.
I also sell on ebay (old rock and roll records, etcwinking smiley and do surveys and serve on mock juries. This week I did a survey that I worked for an hour and was paid $300.00.
I have found, in my travels of life, that if you're unhappy doing ANYTHING..
GO DO SOMETHING ELSE.

oilerpro, hi there, nice to meet you but your post is incomplete. When you first appear on this forum you're expected to throw a fit and bash somebody, so get to it. Thank you.

To MDavisnowell: I am new to the forum and am not yet a mystery shopper unless, of course, you count that 6 month stint of home pizza delivery back in the nineties (until I got a bit too specific in a report and got canned when the shop figured out who I was) though I'm interested in trying it again now that I'm no longer working full time.

I just wanted to let you know how much I admire and respect you for your professionalism on this forum as well as your willingness to give advice to new shoppers. I appreciate that you don't bash companies as it's important for folks to work out their issues privately.

Thank you so much for your help and support.

Not necessarily. I agree that it is NOT good idea to bash MSCs in a public forum especially since schedulers, editors and MSC owners have access to it just like we do. I disagree with folks working out their issues privately. A good portion of this forum is to help each other. If a MSC is having a consistent payment issue, it is important to let others know about the situation. That does not mean a thread title saying "DO NOT EVER F'ING WORK FOR ABC COMPANY." It means thinking like a journalist and just state the facts without psychotic emotions.
I agree with Sybil that non payment for good work is unacceptable and should be posted on the forum. That provides an opportunity for anyone else with the same issue to join in. Usually non payment is based on non acceptance of the report. Many new shoppers do not yet know that unaccepted reports are not paid and they believe that if they submit the report they are done and should be paid. When they are not paid for an unaccepted report they feel they've been cheated. This does not work like a 9 to 5 job. We don't get paid for showing up. That said, if a company is really not paying we need to know. At the same time, we need to be as careful with that company's reputation as we would expect them to be with ours.

Hi all, I have done so many jobs for Market Force and I love them. Reports easy pay is fair and I live in a small town in Florida and find many shops weekly for them. They pay on time and never have had any bad feed back about reports. There the best.!!
You just have to wait until companies are desperate. I often get a shop that is 50 miles each way. It is a fast food report and easy but I make them pay me 75.00 for the shop plus reimbursement for food..I get this shop often and I'll take it all day long.
I know I've been paid for an unaccepted shop. The MSC said they had problems with that location before.

Ath Power does more than banks. At least different shops than going into a bank branch,

Understood. The psychotic ranting and raving was what I was referring to. Thanks so much for the clarification.
