Bank account information

I am new to mystery shopping. In fact, I completed my first two assignments this weekend. I'm loving it!! I am, of course, in the beginnings of finding great companies to contract with. I have noticed a small handful that ask for your routing and account information for making direct deposits instead of paypal email. Any insight on if this is typical and safe, or should I steer clear of companies asking for this? It seems like a steer clear situation, but being such a newbie, I just honestly don't know.

Typically this is very safe. Lets look at the information needed: bank routing number and account number, sometimes bank name. All of this information is on the face of your checks. Would you not write a check for payment to the guy who mows the lawn, trims a tree for you, at the store to buy groceries or to buy tires? Most folks think paying by check is safer than revealing their credit card number and we really don't think twice about paying by check.
That makes sense. I actually thought about that after posting. No different than handing over a check at a retail establishment. We don't really do that anymore, so I didn't consider it. Thank you!!
Direct deposit is definitely my favorite form of payment. I pay bills from my bank account, not from PayPal, so PayPal payments I need to transfer on to my bank. Checks in the mail tend to get delayed by the USPS and get 'lost' regularly enough with a few companies that you wonder whether they were ever sent. And of course the checks received still need to get deposited--whether with remote deposit or with a run to the bank. Direct Deposit takes all the guesswork out of it.
OP---------->You may also find it easier to have a separate account for your MS. When money is coming in and other money "may" be going out, it is best to know what is what. All MS funds can be deposited into this account. It can be a accountable to the total funds you have made during your new businesssmiling smileysmiling smiley

I agree. I opened a separate checking account for my "shopper pay." I scheduled a bank shop and got paid to inquire about an additional account, so I just opened one, and then linked it to my PayPal account. I get the monthly PayPal statements, and it's super easy to transfer the PayPal funds to the checking account. It keeps my accounting easier, and I don't mix up my money.
I haven't had any issues with giving out my banking information. If you are uncomfortable with doing that, opt for the companies that pay by PayPal or will mail you a check.

Banks have protocols set up to prevent money from being removed from your account, but anyone can put money in.

Getting paid to open an account and then a separate pay to deposit money into the new account (I used a shop check) was awesome.
