How do I meet other shoppers?

Hi! I've been shopping seriously for almost two months. So far made around $700 in fees in 30 shops (plus $1000 reimbursable, $200 of which I would have spent anyways).

I'm totally hooked. I know I'm super new still and have a ton to learn. After spending 20+ hours reading the archives of this forum I find myself wanting make mystery shopping friends. The nature of the work obviously makes this difficult. I'm absolutely not looking for someone to tell me all their secret favorite shops and companies. And I know I can come to this forum for whatever questions I have as you are all wonderful. But at the end of the day, I'm wishing I knew some real life people I could chat with and ask a question to now and then. I'd like to find someone else to do certain shops with as well!

ShopperFest is coming up but I don't think I'll be able to go for at least another year. Are there other ways to meet real people? (either in person or online)

Thanks!

Hi - Sounds like you are off and running as a shopper.

Under the General Chat topic there is a Coffee Klatch Corner. You can post there to see if you are able to meet other shoppers.

What area are you in ?

IMSC is an organization of shoppers and they usually have a conference every year and I know a lot of forum members go to it every year. [imscinfo.com] for IMSC information
Keep in mind that even though there are shoppers in NE, you are in many cases competing with shoppers local to you. Many naturally want to protect their hard earned territory. Right or wrong, that is a fact. This shouldn't discourage you though.

There is a lot to learn from this forum. It's interactive.

You have done well for yourself, keep it up !
I totally get that. And if any New Englanders are reading this know that I don't want you to tell me your secrets! I'll find the shops on my own. smiling smiley
Awesome, thanks! I hadn't really checked out the general section yet.

You are definitely off to a good start! My sister lived in Vermont for years and I used to spend a lot of time with her in Vermont and New Hampshire.. I love New England. I’m in Ohio so not your competition at all.. I always thought it would be kinda neat to interact with other shoppers too not to get any advantage like you said just to meet them. I’m good with doing all my own work as well in regards to finding companies and shops. I am hoping to make it to a conference this year or next. I wanted to wait until I shopped a few years before going so I would have something to contribute. I think a conference would be good thing for you to check out! Good luck to you!!!
Every mystery shop assignment is a bit different, but most assignments will require you to complete your shop on a specific day and time.
