Twin Cities

Hello from the fabulous Twin Cities.

I've tried a few times to start a 'Meet Up' group of Twin Cities area shoppers unsuccessfully and was happy to see this forum. I've been shopping for about 6 months and have completed about 70 shops. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this industry and hope to learn more about it from every angle.

Cheers,
Michael

Welcome Michael! Due to the direct competition for jobs in a given area, many shoppers are not thrilled with the notion of getting together with folks in their area. Where shopping is more of a hobby than a business, then shoppers tend to be more willing to work with folks in their area.

One of the interesting aspects of a forum is that you can share with folks from all over the country, get ideas from them, and get to know them. When I have travelled around the country it has been fun getting together with friends made on forums. Last time was over lunch, which of course was a shop in and of itself. But we didn't get together talk shops so much as to meet in person.
Thanks for the welcome! I can see what you mean about the competition thing. For me this is a hobby for sure. I'd hate to try and make a living eating fast food and buying sunglasses.
Yes, and over time you will discover and/or be eligible for a lot of jobs other than fast food and sunglasses. I have shopper friends who attempt to support a household doing shops. They drive hundreds of miles each month, setting up killer routes of shops to maximize fees per mile.
I think that would drive me to drink. I LOVE my breakfast shops and have a great time with them - I'd really like to do some hotel shops but have not discovered them yet. If this 'hobby' takes me no further than breakfast a few times a week, so be it. It's a bit of 'me time' with coffee and the newspaper and a little observation.

Could life get any sweeter?
