Not trying to stirring up controversy either but wouldn't an experienced video shopper already be familiar with the video companies. From what I recall, there is not a lot of them compared to traditional ms'ing.
Not necessarily. Video shoppers come to the profession in different ways. I started with a full day training that included my name being share with the biggest players at the time. Since then more companies have started to try out video and there is a scheduling service focused almost exclusively on video shops. If someone started directly with a company, like Ellis, they wouldn't have information about the others.
