Mercandiser/ demo

Is anyone else being told that part of their merchandising job now includes weekend demo work? I don't mind working weekends, just not doing demo work. I had to say adios.

I haven't had this happen, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to assign just anybody to a demo. It has to be someone outgoing with an interest in selling the product. I wouldn't think this practice would benefit the clients at all.

Not yet, but I have had the option of demo work in the past and said NO. It is just not for me. I have no interest in basically standing in the same spot for 4-6 hours.
I don't have any issues being outgoing, have to be to get the merchandising jobs done, but I have to move around when I work smiling smiley
I have done demos in the past where the time flew by, because it was so busy. It isn't hard when it is a product you know and like, and people are interested in learning more about it. I wouldn't want to be assigned some new chip to put in paper cups, though. I've seen someone doing coffee pot demos in a department store and she was swamped! I'm sure her day goes by fast, but I also know she gets a ton of questions and has to know that product inside and out.

I did one 6 hour demo handing out ice tea samples. I think I got 2 ten minute breaks. That was my first and last demo.
