I was checked up on smiling smiley

Last week, I was called to do a merchandising assignment at the big box store - just routine maintenance and re-stocking. The backstock was in the back, on a pallet behind oodles of other pallets, so I put on my report that it was inaccessible.

This week, I was called and asked if I could do it again. The same supervisor was on shift. He told me the day after I was there last week, he got a call asking if the backstock was indeed inaccessible.

It made me feel pretty good to know someone out there really is reading my reports. smiling smiley

It's good you have a positive attitude about it. I'd be offended that they didn't believe me and felt the need to check up. Oh, I know the MSCs don't know us from Adam, and I know that some ICs are not trustworthy and I know they have to CYA, but still...

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
Actually, I was a little irked about it at first. After considering, I changed my mind. The biggest was that I realized they were letting the store know that they (the store) prevented me from doing my work, and the store then had to pay their own employees to finish my tasks.

I don't mind being checked up on...I've only been doing IC work for a few months, so I am new to this MSC. I have a great scheduler, who calls me for quite a few "need-it-done-today" assignments with nice bonuses. Nice for my pocketbook, but a lot of them are past due when I get them, so my reports get marked as being late until he can go in and update them as being on time.

Lastly, I know I do good work. smiling smiley
I would expect them to call and to tell the store to make sure it is accessible. Otherwise, they could send you back, and the same thing would happen.

That particular store isn't going to change the way they do things, and someone has to go back anyway...it's a twice a week maintenance project. They just haven't found anyone who wants to do it routinely, so I get a bonus when it's behind schedule. smiling smiley

Added Plus: I have a great scheduler knows my dislike for that store, so he considers it a favor when I agree to do it. In return, I get a call when he can offer a nice bonus on an assignment in my area.
I would not have been offended. It is my job to check the back room.

The client is dependent upon me making sure that all stock is moved out to the front. The sales can be deeply affected if I don't bring out everything they have in the back. You can't sell what you don't bring out smiling smiley

There are many times the merchandise is inaccessible and I make every effort to get it out there. But if I can't I make note of it, but before I do that, I notify the MOD that I need help getting the stock out.
For the last 3 years I have been a Merchandiser have had that problem with a few stores, but most try really hard to help when I need it. Some stores it's like trying to pull hens teeth to get any help. Though one will not cross me anymore, He wouldn't do something and I told him it needed to be done by next week. He said so, I said, So I have to report it because I need pictures, and again he said so. The next week it was up and, he wanted my boss to call corporate headquarters for some reason.

Good luck to you, my friend.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
We have to remember that we are the visitors in their store smiling smiley

It would be great if every assignment went perfectly and we were paid for the full time but sometimes it just doesn't. The manufacturer wants their pictures, the merchandising company wants to get paid for the job and so do we. The store......they want us to make their jobs easier not harder.

I know of a merchandiser recently who approached a store employee handed them some signs and asked when they would put them up so she could take a picture. Seriously smiling smiley ! After a few more situations where she did not do her job they called her company.....no kidding.

As far as being checked up on, there have been many times where company B sends reps in to verify if something was done (endcap set up, POP placed, etc) by company A. Why? The manufacturer wants to see who is doing the job they are being paid for and which company should be getting the business.

Went back out three weeks later and he was as nice as could be. His corp office was deing paid by the manufactuer to have the display up and be serviced by the company I work for. It all depends on the corp that runs the grocery store. some allow managers a great deal of leeway and some say if its in the book you have too and if it isn't in the you don't,t even think about it. Even if it makes sense.
