Cigaret resets at Dollar General for Survey/Merchandiser

Has anyone done these yet? You are supposed to get the MOD to print out new prices and then you’re supposed to put the new prices up. I’ve been merchandising for years and years; in all that time, I only got ONE MOD to print new prices. And even then, she didn’t let me put them up, she said her own employees would post them later. So how do you complete this job? I’ve had MODs say they didn’t have a working printer, or they just started as manager and didn’t know how, or they didn’t have authorization to make price changes, and any other excuse you can dream of.

Any suggestions/advice about this entire job deeply appreciated.

I am to remove pusher bars and install new pusher shelves, then restock according to planogram, etc etc etc.

Thanks!

That sounds like a ton of work, rife with potential problems. What are they paying for this, out of curiosity?
I hope you get the info you need, and that the assignment works out for you if you take it.

These shops are a pass for me. For the reasons you mention, plus you're reliant on employees at typically understaffed stores being able to help you.

I hope it isn't the same as the tobacco one I see a bunch posted for because it's only $10.
Thanks, all. Survey/Trac just such a hot mess! They agreed to ship the items for 3 stores closest to me. This was so I could try the job and make sure I could do it (hands don’t work very well, even after the surgery). They promised to ship by 11, so I changed my schedule all around to accommodate that. They didn’t even ship til the 22nd. I got them Friday, woke up Saturday to 5 different emails why wasn’t I at the first store at 8 a m? WHAT? I’m not you stinking employee. That wasn’t in our agreement. And they don’t even open the darn stores til 9! Why did you ship 10 days late but expect me to go to the first store immediately on receipt? And they didn’t ship for 3 stores, but for 11!

As to pay, $17.55 per hour, 3 hrs per store. 17 stores spread out over 500 miles round trip, with 4 nights company paid hotel and $300 for gas and food, plus $16 bonus for each store completed and approved. I accepted because the whole route has dozens of bonused mystery shops that each take about 15 minutes (including the report) and currently paying $20.

I figured to make $1500 or so in 4 days.

Upshot was, we had a contract, they breached it. I cancelled the entire route and returned the materials at their expense.

Once I saw the materials, I realized what a massive task it was. I was to totally reconfigure the entire shelving unit (remove and replace the shelves). My hands just couldn’t do it. They totally misled me by telling me I would merely be restocking/merchandising the shelves to the new POG. Total lie.

In all fairness to the company, I’ve worked with them for years, and they’ve never screwed up quite so badly before this.

I even got emails from FedEx telling me my package had been delivered to the dollar general in London, KY. I’m in California for Pete’s sake!

Getting employees to print price tags (now) is always a problem. I always confirm that all I have to do is ask and not having the tags won't affect payment.
