Just did my first welding shop; loved it!

I took a shop for a welding-supply company, thinking it would be interesting. Did it today and really, really enjoyed it! It was so different for a nice change, the store and employee were enjoyable, and the location was only about 12 minutes from my home. I used to work for an industrial-supply company (eons and eons ago), so felt fairly comfortable discussing helmets and welding equipment on a very, very basic level. By the time I left the store, I wanted to buy the helmet and have my kid start welding! LOL.... Only semi-bad thing was that this really wonderful salesperson didn't ask for the sale, although I gave him at least one really good opening to do so, despite the objection I had to raise.

The report is straightforward, although they want one very detailed narrative. Seems like the kind of report that once you do one, the others will go a lot faster.

I'd love to do another one, but next closest one is about 20 - 25 miles from me. I submitted my report tonight, and if this other shop stays open, and if my report gets edited soon and they like it, I want to ask for the other location, if they'll pay a gas bonus.

Anyone else like these shops or have had a great experience? Are they ever bonused?

Yes, they get bonused over time. I saw more than one go for at least double the starting price last time.
When I saw the thread title, I could have sworn it said "wedding" shop. Every time I saw it, as I worked my way down the list of threads until I got to this one. When I started reading the OP, I was like... ???

Then I saw the "l" in there. Welding! Aha!

I've never seen a welding shop anywhere! What is the basic scenario for that one? Do you have to have some knowledge in the field?

pony, is who pulling whose leg?

StormCloud, if I did a "wedding" shop, it would have to be as mother of the bride or groom! Or grandmother....
