Why I love bank shops

I am a bit of a financial geek. I invest my own money and make my own financial plans. I love this stuff. So when an MSC will pay me $30 to go into a bank and pretend I have $15,000 to invest, I jump all over the opportunity.

I used my shop yesterday to explore some options I had been considering and ask some questions I had been building up.
So I had to take 20 minutes and write a report. I got to spend 45 minutes talking about investments and got some great advice and a bunch of questions answered.

I am now more confident that my financial plan is on the right path and I got paid $30.

I love bank shops.

I have GOT to start doing these. There are so many to go around, too!

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Bank shops are awesome.

You get to listen to intelligent, knowledgeable advice and it gets me pumped up to work harder and save more each time.

And - the reports are easy, you can do strings of them all day long, and no calories are consumed.

What's not to love?
I find I'm too wrapped up in the things I need to remember to pay attention to information that will actually help me.
That's the same problem with cell phone shops. By now I should know exactly which phone would be perfect for me, but I actually learn very little on those shops.

And I must not be checking the right job boards. I didn't even see any bank shops this week!

Yes, bank shops are my favorite. I can be in & out of a simple bank shop in 10 minutes, reports are easy and I deal with professional people. I can't remember who got chased out of a gas ststion with a broom but that doesn't happen in banks (not yet anyway).
Banks and cars! My favorite shops.

After doing several of these, we are able to sort through the marketing fluff (these folks work on comission). I love it when the advisors are thorough in their profiling and provide honest explanations of upfront load, hidden fees/risks and then recommend products that actually fit our needs/time frames. I don't personally choose to invest through banks due to the aforementioned, but a great deal can be learned on these assignments.
