Dollar store price check -- redundant?

I just got an email about doing a price check of 100 items at a certain brand of Dollar Store.

I'm wondering what possible purpose it can serve to have someone go in the store and write down $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1, $1 100 times.

What am I not getting here?

I wish this could be done on Tuesday instead of Wednesday. I'll be near the store Tuesday and this seems like an incredibly easy gig, since the only thing I would actually have to note would be "not in stock" and the occasional 2/$1 item.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

I was in a certain dollar store yesterday and about the only price I did NOT see was $1.00. As I walked out I was thinking they need to change the name to "Everything costs more than a $1.00 store". It is the one that sells cell phones, slippers, clothing, household, etc. So they very well may need price checks. They are such a mess, I did work in a few last fall and quit the company that services them the same day.
We have the Dollar Store, General Dollar, Family Dollar.

The Dollar Store has everything for a dollar.

The others have merchandise over a dollar.

Isn't this fun? .. not! winking smiley
The "Dollar" store here has things for $1.25 and $1.50 sometimes.

In my area, we have three different chains that all have "dollar store" in their name, but only one charges $1 per item (or 2 for $1). The other two stores are similar to variety stores with clothing, larger toys, office supplies, etc.
Most dollar stores in my area are actually dollar plus stores, mostly because they sell things worth much more than a dollar. Don't let the name fool you into thinking it's a simple shop!
One of my favorite cartoon takes place in a Dollar Tree, which, by the way, has signs on the windows and throughout the store, stating, "Everything is $1.00." The cartooon shows an announcement blaring from the PA, "Price check, aisle 3."

I think my local one is Dollar Tree. I think the shop was for Family Dollar. We also have one of those here but I've never been in it.

I inquired of the scheduler and they said that yes, they have prices other than a dollar there.

But I still think it's silly.

Although . . . I remember growing up and we had "five and dime" stores (or "five and ten"winking smiley and they had prices over a nickel or dime. I guess dollar stores are the five and tens of this generation.
