What do you think about Revealed Shops?

For the virgins among us, a revealed shop is one where the manager either knows from the beginning or is told after you do some observations, that an auditor (a more dignified title, don't you think?) is present.

They have a lot less paperwork, but you have to wash your hair and press your clothes. Most are business casual. No, all are business casual. You have to go alone. It is almost a different animal from MS.

Speaking of going it alone, my teenage daughter was so intrigued on one revealed shop that she couldn't stand it, and snuck into the back of the store to see the people get their rewards. I didn't know she was there until it was over. She did what any smart, experienced Mystery Shopper would have done. She calmly played the customer, and bought something and sat down. She also reads name tags for a hobby, even when we are not working, and she can get ANYONE to tell her their name. She is having an interesting childhood.

What do you think of revealed shops? What kind have you done?

I think revealed/reward shops are some of the "most fun" shops out there when the employee(s) are successful and among the most disheartening when they're not. They also tend to be among the worst paying assignments.

I have done only four reveal/reward shops because of that. A weiner shop, two hamburger places and a taco place. Fortunately, only the taco place was unsuccessful...and the MSC posted another reveal/reward shop there right after.

And "Bravo" to your daughter for her support and enthusiasm! My kids grugingly support my efforts, but they have NO interest in what I do. sad smiley
Not all revealed shops are reward shops, nwaz. Some are audits, mostly safety, some simply establish that a business exists, for credit cards or IRS. Service Intelligence has these, and I think I saw Kingman. Trendsource does the business verifications, as does CRI. I guess you could call light merchandizing a revealed shop. I like connecting with the people.

Jennifer feels like she is making a contribution to humanity. LOLOL I am not sure I would take it that far, but maybe a contribution towards clean toilets. And I have never had a retail clothing shop where I didn't spend my commission before I filed my report. My son likes the meals, and then he likes to have his say on what is in the report. He values his stomach, and will go and talk to a boy to see his nametag for me, I have to do the girls, lol.

Yes. I realize that. However the reward shops are the only kind I "have done".

There are not too many of the "other kind" around here. There was one business verification shop for here a week or so ago, but by the time I went to claim it, it was already gone. Oh, well.
I did my first reveal shop yesterday, it was a restaurant. I enjoyed it and it gave me the courage to do more. I also got my shop grade for it and was surprised it was a 10 out of 10.
