BurgerFi vs 5 Guys - Who is copying who?

I shopped [www.burgerfi.com] for the first time and they are so close to 5 Guys that if I closed my eyes I could barely tell the difference between the fries or the burger. Both use the same cut fries and cook in 100% peanut oil. BurgerFi chooses to cook them crunchy (The way I like) and has more condiments and cheeses. They also have a shake machine and many choices on how to have the shake prepared. Don't this sound like something Five Guys is rolling out now?

I wonder if they are owned by 5 Guys? I also wonder (assuming 5 Guys does NOT own them) if they have stolen any of 5 Guys methods?tongue sticking out smiley
I'll have to try this place out... If anything, it reminds me of Larkburger, not Five Guys.

I find there are quite a few Burger stores that are similar to one another in one way or another. I have been to both BurgerFi and Five Guys and don't feel they are copying one another at all. BurgerFi is all about natural and environmentally conscious. Five guys is about fresh. I can't imagine that one is owned by the other. Additionally the fries may be similar but well there are lots of places that have similar burgers/fries/shakes. In my area I find Meatheads and Smashburger to be somewhat similar yet definitely different.

Zip Code locator says that the closest location is more than 80 miles away. So I guess I will not be doing one of those shops any time soon.

At least Burger Fi actually has a veggie burger unlike the one at Five Guys which consists of a non meat patty ( Yes, it's true, you get bread and condiments only. UGGHH)
I went by an original Five Guys at 12:05 pm Lunch time and there were ZERO customers. They might be fizzling...

You can always add in some cajun fries into that sandwich, extra mushrooms, jalapeno's and green peppers. Sounds like heaven to me!

On my last few visits to Five Guys, I have been one of the only customers in there.

BurgerFi is an amalgamation of 5 Guys, Smashburger, Relish and a few others. Not an original concept. BF is a franchise not connected to 5 Guys. Yes BF touts environmental conscienceness with using recycled materials in their restaurants. That is the only main difference. As far as "all natural," there is no real legal definition for "natural" beef. Ask to look at the boxes their beef is packaged in. The boxes do not say grass fed, free range or organic beef, and depending on the feed, may very well be GMO. The boxes will also show the meat does not come from the company BF states they purchase from. 5 Guys could also state their beef is all natural, it is just a gimmick for the gullible public. BF has a good veggie patty but it is not vegan, while 5 Guys is a veggie sandwich. A single burger at 5 Guys is a better value than a single burger at BF since the BF burgers cook down to a much smaller patty that is not worth the price.
BurgerFi does a disgrace to the true Chicago hot dog.

Wrong pickle spear, wrong bun type and no poppy seeds on the bun. A Chicago dog MUST be made with Vienna Beef hot dog with natural casing. Then to slice the hot dog down the center and put it in the deep fryer is a poor way to cook a hot dog. I'm surprised they didn't ask me if I wanted catchup on it. Could not taste the celery salt either.

I wanted to put the above on the shop report, but that is not what the customer wants to hear.

You have to be from Chicago to understand the fuss. You don't mess with the Chicago dog like that.

Yep. Was just at Portillos last week. yum
I've been to both places. Five guys is more my style, everything at BurgerFi seems roboticized.

You are right about the Chicago Dog and it does seem the customer does not want to hear any negatives. Defeats the purpose of a shop.
Well of course they do not want to hear any negatives. Can not get investors for more franchisees with a bunch of bad shop reports.
You said it PERFECTLY> Absolutely perfectly.
I am convinced that is why they DO have pics of shoppers in the backroom.
They want to "out" all of them to get a good report.
