Video Recordings of Onsite Apartment Visits

I just signed on with an MSC and I'm hesitant to request any apartment shops. The guidelines state I have to video record my onsite visits with rental equipment. I have never done this and nor do I know if it is legal. Can someone shed some light on this? Is a video recording difficult to do and where do I rent the equipment?

Regarding legality: there is a detailed discussion of this in one of the topics at the top of the topics list in the New Mystery Shoppers area of the forums.

Short answer: it is legal when the client has followed the laws of the particular state in 14 states, and legal in all cases in the other 36 states and DC. Some training in using the video recorder is needed and should be supplied by the MSC.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
And, if you're not sure and the shop is in one of the 14 two party states, ask the MSC if the client has releases from the employees that state they may be recorded at work.
