Disability benefits

Hi,
Does anyone know how Social Security Disability benefits are affected by mystery shopping and merchandising?

You might want to check with your local social security office on this one. I was alway under the impression that if you are disabled then you cant work. The only I figure that you might get away with it, is to not file taxes, but if you make over 599.00 per year with a company then they are going to send you a 1099
You need to check with the social security office to make sure.

But, I think you can earn $3000.00 a year before it affects your benefits.
You will only get a 1099 form from mystery shops when you earn $600.00 from them.

So move around a bit between the companies and don't make that much from one and then you don't have to file income taxes. if you don't get any 1099's.
I agree. You are considered an independent contractor. not an employee. I think that is where it becomes different.
It does not matter if you make the whole $600.00 from any one company or not. You still have to report any income to the IRS. Just because they do not send you a 1099 does not mean they are not reporting your income. They have to account for paying out that money for their tax purposes. I would be sure to check with SS to see what the laws are. Better safe than sorry.
I have checked for myself.
That is the only way to know is to get from the horse' mouth.
I can make $3000 a year without disrupting my benefits.
My husband is also on SS and when he first got on there he was limited to so much a year. After he turned 66 then he could make as much in a year as he wanted. There is no limit anymore. He was also told that before when he was limited to so much, he could still make as much as he wanted but it would be deducted from his SS. So if he could make more in a month then what his SS was he was better off working and making the extra money. He was getting his check, then could make $3000.00 over that so if he made more then the $3000.00 the amount over the $3000.00 was what was deducted. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for the info. I know lots of shoppers who will benefit from it.
I s the husband on on SS or SS disability?
Guess I have to wait until I am 66, in the meantime they want us all to be paupers.
