Purchase and Return Shop..

I have not yet done a purchase and return, but there's a very high paying one available to me right now. It looks like it's for shoes. $25 shoppers pay plus $60 bonus. It's at a sporting good store. How do these normally work? Do I go back a different day to do the return? There is a very vague description before accepting it, so I'm trying to figure out what I'd be getting myself in to. For that pay, it seems like anything might be worth it!

Most generally you go in as for any shop and do an evaluation and the purchase. Then you return to bring back the merchandise for a refund and do an evaluation on that. It depends on the client and MSP how soon you can return. Nice price for the shop. Know the closing dates for your credit cards because sometimes it takes 4-5 days before the credit for the return shows up on your card and if at all humanly possible you want the purchase and the return in the same billing cycle because my bet is that you will not be purchasing something cheap.

Edited to add: You usually are doing two shop reports with a P/R. Also make certain before you purchase that items can be returned for 'cash' rather than store credit towards other purchases there. Since increasingly places seem to be doing the store credit thing, I would call ahead and say that I saw some shoes there that I liked and wanted to know what their policy was on returning them if I bought them and my husband hit the roof about them.

It tells me it will be sandals, which doesn't sound like it would be expensive. But at a sporting good store, you never know, it could be an expensive brand. It does seem worth a shot with that nice bonus on there. Sounds fairly easy, with the only inconvenience being some money is tied up for a few days.
I'm not trying to put a "wet blanket" on your shop but $60 is pretty high. I am thinking someone flaked and they need it done. Or, the shop is difficult. I could be wrong on both accounts but $60 seems high for a bonus. Do you have to drive far? Did you work up to $60 or did it start out as $60? Either way, sounds like you got a great paying shop! smiling smiley

I have done nothing and it started out with only the $25 shopper's pay, but it's been sitting there all month. I just did my first shop for that MSC on Monday and it's still in review. I'm thinking they must just want it done with the end of the month approaching. But that was my concern too, it could be difficult. The weird thing is, there are 6 other shops in the same store and none of those have bonuses available! Which makes my decision to accept this one over the others all the easier. Also, I don't have to drive far at all. It's in my fairly small town. It's about 15 miles round trip.

And as far as I know, I'm the only mystery shopper in my area. I have seen absolutely zero competition, which is great. I can let jobs sit there forever until I decide if I want to do them or wait for bonuses. smiling smiley

This sounds sweet!! smiling smiley I think you will be okay. Report back and let us know how it went.
$60 is a great fee for what amounts to two shops. Be careful of timing requirements. Some MSCs require that you wait 15 minutes to do the return. Some require 2 hours, or 4 hours. I do one which requires that I wait 3 days. Some also specify the maximum amount of time that you can wait to do the return. If it is an MSC which requires that the return be done the same day (often for inventory purposes and I think that was a requirement for a high-end shoe purchase / return I did), make sure that you make the purchase early enough in the date to enable the return to be made before they close.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
It they allow you to make the purchase AND return in the same day, I usually walk out of the store and return in five minutes. I use the excuse, "I just talked to my husband. Turns out he already bought me these shoes earlier today! Since I'm still here I told him I'll return these ones." Saves you a trip coming back to the store on a different day if the company allows you to do it on the same day.
I don't mind purchase and return shops as long as I can return like 20 minutes later at most. Some require an hour or next day so as long as I am in the area for a while or will be back the next day I take em. Of course pay has to be worth it with the added return portion. $60 bonus all day for me.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
