Pizza Delivery

I accepted a pizza delivery shop that was reimbursement only. I was okay with it because my kids love their pizza and it would make them happy and I would get out of making dinner that night. I just read the full guidelines. I am not allowed to give any tip because the client wants to test if the drivers are pressuring for tips. I just canceled the shop. I know pizza delivery workers are relying on tips and I would feel guilty. I have never done a pizza delivery shop before. Is this normal for pizza delivery?

No I've done literally over one hundred pizza delivery shops and never had a MSC ask me to not to tip. I used to be a server and then was a bartender. I'd be ashamed to stiff someone who works for tips unless they were a complete belligerent useless a$$hole. Which is what I'd feel like by not tipping.

Ugh, agree. I even tip on my mystery shops knowing full well that I might not get reimbursement for it. The clients and/or MSCs are usually good about that, but I also tend to stay under maximum reimbursement amounts.

If the client wants to know if their deliverers are pressuring for tips, they should probably adjust the employee contracts (if necessary) and spring for a video/audio shop. No reason to ask somebody who might be or become a regular customer not to tip when it can actually affect their relationship with the pizza chain.
I even tip for counter service though I know I won't usually get reimbursed, unless the MSC absolutely forbids it, but those employees don't expect it so I don't feel as bad in that circumstance.
I would avoid that shop, UNLESS, its a pizza shop that advertises you don't need to tip the drivers as they are paid sufficient hourly. It seems unethical otherwise and I wouldn't take any part in it.
I would not take the pizza shop where I could not tip the driver. I think they make low wages and the no-tipping shop is NOT for me! tongue sticking out smiley
Since you haven't listed the MSC could you tell us the company so we can avoid it? I would not want to take a shop with that requirement.

Thanks for the responses. Now I feel better for canceling the shop. I might feel comfortable not tipping to see if they ask and then once they walk away, say "Oh wait, I forgot to tip you". Again, I appreciate the responses and knowledge that this isn't a normal pizza delivery shop requirement.

I have been shopping Papa John's for over two years and I get compensated for the cost of my pizza plus reasonable tip which I report on the submission form.
i would think it would be a tip off that it was a mystery shopper if no tip was offered....but you shouldn't feel guilty..some mystery shopper will take it...and the pizza will be delivered without a tip....and missing 1 tip shouldn't break the bank....
