I had a major issue with Second to None about a year ago when they rejected a shop based on a "requirement" that was not mentioned in their instructions or in any other literature for the shop. I only discovered this when I happened to spot the "Rejected Shops" category on their website because I got no notification of rejection. The editor had emailed me a question for clarification of another item. I protested to my scheduler and resent the email every few days for several weeks with no response. I finally forwarded the entire accumulated email thread of unanswered requests to the scheduler to the editor who had previously contacted me. The editor got back to me fairly promptly that the shop WOULD be paid. The shop was a restaurant and only covered about 2/3 of the required purchases anyway. Although I now have a new scheduler their shops of possible interest to me still don't fully reimburse the required purchases, so I just don't bother.

I noted a comment the other day that their coffee client had cut back on the numbers of shops. The original CEO who brought the company to prominence has returned to run the company and is unwinding a bunch of the stuff his successor had done, so there is a chance that shop numbers and requirements will change further.
Hi! I am Deanna. I have been working for Second to none, I still do. No problem here.If I can help.Let me know.
Certainly my payment issue with them got resolved and I got paid. I understand that now they will let you know if a shop has been rejected--which is progress. For me, personally, there are too many MSPs with whom I have had nothing but good experiences to continue with one where I have had an issue. If they had shops at places I loved it would be a different situation. I don't do their coffee shops because I don't think that particular coffee is very good. When I figure the value of a shop I figure the fee plus the benefit of the reimbursement and their coffee shops then come in as low value in my personal estimation. Their other shops in my area are mostly restaurants where a quick check of the online menu shows me that the reimbursement won't start to cover the requirements. So I have pretty much stopped Second to None.
My experience with Second to None was fine.
Oh my-my-my- The dam has broken!
When I moved down here to NC, after a few days of unpacking the basics, I started signing up with new shopping companies, because a lot of the ones that I worked with in CT didn't have anything going down here. I signed up with S2N and 3 days later got a call to see if I could do some jobs the following week. I told her Heavens no, that I was standing in the middle of a chest high pile of boxes and that we could barely find a path to the bed and hadn't come across the eating utensils yet. She asked me when I would be ready and I said certainly not before the weekend of the week after she was talking about. She said she'd get back to me.
Oh boy, did she! The following week there were 8 acceptance notices for shops for cups of lattes on the weekend I had mentioned. Mind you now, I had no equipment and I didn't know the first thing about doing one of these jobs. I didn't even know where to look for information about them. A couple of days later, the equipment arrived. I'm glad she called, because I had a chance to ask her what in the world was she was thinking, but she laughed it off and said it was so easy.
Well, I got through the shops, but the icing on the cake was that on of them was closed on the weekends and she made me go back and do it on Mon.
I settled in with that company and did at least 40 shops a month for them, some in areas where nobody else wanted to go. My husband would come with me, so I felt safe enough.
I am about to explode now!!!!!
I had 6 months of smooth sailing and if she called to beg me to do a last minute job or 2, I always did.
She called on Aug. 27th and said that nobody was signing up for the last 3 days of the month, would I please help her out? I didn't want to do any more shopping that month. I was just plain burnt out! I asked her if she could give me a bonus on those shops and she said she just couldn't do that, because they had gone over their allowance. Hah! She knew darn well I'd take them and I did. I told her I had maxed out my credit card and I'd have to use cash. No problem!
I did 19 shops in those 3 days and they refused payment on all but 1 - quess why -
because I didn't use a credit card!!! The one shop I got paid for doesn't take anything but cash. There's a question on the report form that asks "If you didn't use a credit card, what was the reason"? Of course, I answered the question with My credit card is maxed out.
There was a flurry of emails and phone calls, sadly to no avail. Then one day, I tried to sign in to their site and I couln't get in. Apparently, I was now persona non grata.
About a month later, a new scheduler calls. She wants to know if I'll do a shop
that no one ever wants to do, because you have to drive through security outside
and be OK'd, then go through security inside, go to an office and wait until someone can escort you to your appointment and that escort has to stay with you the entire time. I said I had nothing against her at all, but since I wasn't allowed on their site anymore and they hadn't paid me for 18 jobs, I didn't care to work for them anymore. She said she'd get me back on the site, she knew I'd done this shop many times and she'd make sure I got more jobs, but I politely refused. I was bursting at the seams, but she had nothing to do with it at all.
S2N is on my **** list!
My only real complaint about Mystery Shopping is Satisfaction Services. No one said not to use a gift card.It said it was alright to make a purchase, and that there would be a 20% discount. We use a gift card. The ladies called. I get paid, just not for my purchase.Thank-Goodness I like the pan.
