Pizza Delivery Photos

I would appreciate any advice on taking pizza photos, especially for a certain pizza delivery service. I have a good camera that should be good for the photo. But I want to make sure that the pizza is well lit and not blurry. The instructions say to make sure that it has proper lighting, but what exactly would be proper lighting for this shop? Do you need special lights, or just the flash?

Thanks!

I use my iPhone and keep the flash on. I send the photos to my email using "Actual size".
No issues with the photos. There are labels that have to be in the photos too. Don't cut anything out or edit the photos in any way.

(This is advice for NSS. If it is for another company, it might not help you.)
You can try photos with the flash on and with it off. If you think your indoor lighting is too yellow, you can try one with the lights on and one with them off. Take the shot looking straight down at the pizza and get the whole pizza in the shot. Pick the best one for the report. You should be fine unless you have really poor lighting where you are taking the photos.
I try to position the pizza so that no shadows are present using just my regular overhead lighting, and then I take several pictures without the flash. It took a little work to find the right spot that allowed me to do this. I also take one with the flash for good measure, and submit at least one of each if the form allows.
I use my IPhone without the flash. Instead of "photo", I select ""square" for the overhead shot. This way you get a larger picture of just the pizza.

I do these shops for Intellishop, and do the same thing you do. I've never had any problems.
I have a digital camera that I use. I often set mine on the porch after everyone is gone if it's still daylight out. I take pictures with and without the flash. I've noticed that if you're taking a side view photo, the flash can kill all of the background and a lot of the pizza though so all you see is a little crust. I turn off my flash for the side view photos and I snap a ton and move the little piece of paper with ID numbers all around the box to see what I like best. I use the same camera for both and no issues. I tried using my phones 5MP camera but on my first shop, I was told the photos were too small, too blurry, etc even though on the computer the sizes were withing parameters. I've since just used the digital cam. iPhone, Galaxy, MotoZ probably would get you good photos though.

Oh that is too bad. I have never had a problem and get paid monthly for the same shop. I use an iPhone with the flash on. Never had my picture questioned. Try again. smiling smiley

Literally the easiest mystery shops available. I do them for 2 companies and have never had a problem. My friend "the professional photographer" has had reports deleted for crumby pics so it is what it is.

I really appreciate all the helpful advice! I was really nervous about this shop, but I feel much better about it now. I was worried that I would need some special lighting. Thank you for all the tips.
I did several shops for one MSC and never had any problems. Always received a 10 on my pizza shops. My last shop received a 10 as well but the client rejected the shop stating the pictures were blurry. I've used the same camera and same location in all shops.

They are a gamble so I will not do them anymore.

Easy yes. Just wait they will find fault, they always do.
Know SEVERAL employees there and do not do them. Trust me you ARE known positively absolutely . You think you are safe for both companies.... ..... NOPE!

Use good abundant overhead lighting AND flash. Hold the camera very very still when taking the picture. If you are using a cell phone, try turning the camera 90 degrees to get better results because sometimes the picture is darker when taken longways- I learned that rotating the camera can give better pics if you are getting dark pictures. They want nice bright (but not overexposed pictures.). I have only had 1 out of about 40+ pizza shops get rejected because my pictures were too dark. Then I learned to rotate the camera 90 degrees if necessary and the pictures were much better.
I take normal iPhone photos, just make sure the lighting is good...common sense and no need to overthink it. Just take at least three to be safe. I've never had any sent back and I've done 3 separate pizza shops requiring a photo.
I've been outed at my last two addresses, but haven't been at this one yet. I use a camera to take the pics and do one about once a month, but only with a bonus. I've had two rejected in four years, both for pics. One because I took the pics on my phone and they must not have come out correctly.
Tlin, how were you outed at a shop where you take the photos in your home after the deliverer has left? (I've seen other people reference being outed in other threads about these shops, so I know it's possible, I just can't figure out how it happens.)
Do not use 640 times 480; use alot higher resolution. 1280 times 720 is better. I use higher. They want every detail to be clear; the lighting as clear and even as it can be. Once you get it right it's not difficult. Love to all, signed Night Owl at 7:45 pm
I always use my digital camera and have been for years. It is an $89 Nikon and works perfectly. I tried taking photos with my phone along with my digital camera but when I viewed them on the computer to compare, the digi cam photos were better. It's weird because I have taken numerous photos with my phone on vacations and for other shops and they've come out nicely, but for these shops my digi cam works the best. NSS and Intellishop have never rejected my shops or required different photos.
