Anyone do the Car-X free inspection shop?

I did today and was told the wait would be over an hour. I completed the shop and report following the directios for what to do IF they can not give you the inspection in 30 minutes.

Just wondering if they usually fight paying you when this happens. I've always avoided the Car-X shops but this one was bonused too nicely and I was driving by it today anyway.

I don't know what Car-X is, so clearly we do not have that company here. But the average wait here for inspection is 30 minutes to an hour. I wonder what the time they are supposed to quote for it should be. I would like to go to that inspection place! :-)

I'm not sure this is what your talking about, but I've done a couple oil changes and I think the wait time was 1/2 hour. I don't go early in the morning or late afternoon, around 10ish should work, as they do the job quickly.
The chain I went to is actually more expensive than my dealer (Honda) which charges me 29.00...opposed to their 59.00, but your not paying for it, just waiting two months to get reimbursed. Be sure they put good oil in there, since I'm not a car knowledgeable person, I never know and stopped doing them.

It depends on the company you did the job for and what kind of burrs they have under their saddle (if any). Some companies you follow directions, you get paid. Others, you follow directions but you don't get the desired outcome, they will give you a hard time about it. Implied being "You just didn't try hard enough." Baloney. You will know more about the company by how they deal with the shop.

I don't know who does Car-X because they aren't in my area either, so couldn't tell you whether you are in for an uphill fight or reasonable behavior.

I did a Car-X shop a year or so ago & it took FOREVER. After then inspection, they told me I needed brakes (I sort of did!), but I told them nevermind. So, they have all of the tires off to do the inspection & I needed the product, but refused. All in all, it took about 90 minutes and it was NOT worth it, IMO.

I did one the other day at car-x. it was a call ahead for appointment, so my wait was about 30 min if that. sorry to hear you had a problem.

I don't know about Car-x since we don't have them in my area, but any time I have trouble with getting out of a shop that was inspection only, I say I have to wait until payday, schedule the appointment to have the work done...say next week and then as soon as I leave, I call and "remember" I have a doctor's appt. on that day and have to cancel.

You have to remember it is the person's job who is doing the inspection to try to get you to have the work done.

Same thing with "look at a new car" shops...you have to have a ready excuse to get out if they are pushy. I have to go to work in 1/2 hour usually works. After all, they want you to have a job to pay for whatever you are "buying".
