I did one, it was about a glass and a half for the flight. I had no issues and was a good experience. We tend to eat more expensive items, so reimburse did not cover all but covered a bunch of it!
It would be alcohol abuse to buy a good wine and NOT drink itsmiling smiley

Not sure what a wine dinner shop is considered but I did do one last month, bar and dinner. One alcoholic drink at the bar and that was it. Food and service excellent. We so enjoyed ourselves; went over but well worth it.

I think the reports are pretty easy compared to others, and I'd even offer to go with you and drink all the wine, but I'm already committed to attend a concert that night sad smiley
P.S. For this current round, I notice that they adjust the reimbursement after you submit recipts to cover the full cost of the meal for 2 ppl. I think that's a pretty good deal....

Too bad for me..., hate to waste it, have to find a drinker, one glass is it for me. Reimbursement is great.

Who would waste a hundred dollar bottle of wine?

It's not a bottle. It's a 5-course set menu with pairings at each course (all from Chateau Montelena this month).

Makes me sad sad smiley that I can't do this one. I've done the pairings before and it would be really strange to not drink at least some of the wine at each course. People who don't like wine with food would simply not pay the $$ to attend an event like this. It makes an easy report because there's no ordering process and both people get the same food. It's mainly just about timings and presentation from my experience.

That said, you also probably should not drive home from an event like this. Last one I did was a lunch and we went back the hotel and slept for about 3 hours afterward...bit it was more about the amount of food we consumed than the liquor. I probably I drank half of my guest's wine and still managed to walk back the hotel.
Can't you take what you don't drink home? Some liquor laws account for customers paying for a full bottle and being unable to finish the whole thing.

Steve,it's in Woodland Hills, 30 miles from me...I know someone that knows and loves wine, thinking about it.
I wouldn't drive, and even afraid to drive with him that smashed.

Suggest taking your glass(s) of wine to the restroom, dumping some or all.

Designated driver, otherwise.

Too wasteful for me to dump wine, let someone get job that can enjoy it.

Is this with the same MSC that offers the Ruth's shops for 2,3,and 4 people? Is it a regional offering? The only wine pairing shop I've seen/ done is the "generous pour" from Capital Grille.

@ShopSouthTexas, yes, but they only do it in certain cities.

There should be a wine test associated with the assignment that makes sure the shopper who takes it doesn't consider dumping the wine in the bathroom...it's Chateau Montelena pairings! That's practically sacrilegious for us Oenophiles

In CA you can bring a partial bottle of wine home, but for the pairings, they usually put 4-6 ounces in a glass for each course. It's not a bottle. I think I had five 4-ounce glasses for the one I did at J+G Grill. I was shopping a hotel just down the street so it made walking convenient.

Are Capital Grille and Ruth's shopped by the same company?
No to above question....someone else got job, I waited too long, but it'so.k.

I'm with you Irene. When I take fine dining assignments, it's for the food, not the alcohol.

I did both for one MSC but now they are different.
For anyone interested, here's the link to the menu for the event:

I'm not so excited about the food options. More about he wine for this event...but it's very much about how they pair together.
Looks amazing, now I'm sorry I didn't take it.....food (steak) looked good to me. Next time with Steve as my partner.

These you have to apply for, correct? Someone would have had to be approved for the shop instead of sf assigning it? I've only done 2 RC shops I think. Would love to do more.

They have two locations in my city but I didn't see these posted. Hmmm... I wonder if they were pre-assigned instead of being posted for the masses. Usually their shops sit on the board for awhile before they assigne them to someone.

Funny thing is that they normally don't offer the regular Ruth's shops in LA. I've only done them in Vegas and Hawaii before. The dinner pairings are available for all of my local Ruth's, through.
Irene if you see the one in my neighborhood listed take that one and I will go with you. I like wine but I am not a big drinker...i would however not have a problem with the equivalent of two glasses....We can walk back to my house (2 blocks) and sleep it off. Actually my husband would really love that shop so I can loan him to you as long as you promise to keep your hands off him lol You can still come back here and sleep it off.
I might even offer the same invitation to Steve . You also must promise to keep your hands off my husband.
