Getting jobs

Other than this forum and Job Slinger, what is the best way to find jobs? Do you have to search through each company's job board individually, or are there other sites that post these? Job Slinger seems to have the same jobs over and over, many that aren't even available at the moment. Can someone point me in the right direction?

By grunting through all the companies I am signed up with every couple of months (and that is around 200 companies), I know who has anything in my area these days. Those companies get moved to the 30 or so job boards I check daily. Sure there are job emails and there are job boards around--here, at Volition, at MSFreedom, at the MSPA--but a lot of very good companies only post the leftover jobs on such boards or by emails. I find that the better jobs I get come either by schedulers individually contacting me (not the cattle call global email group) or by finding them on the job boards shortly after they post. The first source comes from reputation, the second is just sheer grunt work.
There are a few ways to optimize opportunities to get shops. Make sure your profile with MSPs is set to receive email notifications of shops, then check email regularly. It will still be necessary to routinely check the job boards of MSPs. Keep track of the times of the month when MSPs post shops, especially the ones you want. They may post monthly, semi-monthly, or as needed. The end of the month is generally a time to hang by the computer as much as possible, starting around the 20th-25th, for the next month's shops.

JobSlinger's jobs will more than likely be unavailable. The advantage is you will find out which MSP has shops of interest to you, sign with the MSP, then watch.

No shortcuts. Lots of time with the computer. Self-assigns are very nice.
Good to know. There are a couple of jobs I REALLY want, so I guess I'll watch their board like a hawk from now on! Thanks for the help.
Unfortunately there really is no way around the grunt work. Plums dropped in your lap are not sufficient to have a viable shopping business and while mass job boards and emails are great for helping you develop your 'short list' of companies to visit frequently, you still need to use your short list. I killed a dozen emails this morning without opening them because they are the same jobs that were not worthwhile when I saw them on the company boards at the first of the month. They send emails virtually daily all month before they get serious about raising the prices to a fair payment. Once they do that, shoppers are willing to do the work without further ado. Prior to that it seems like they are just looking for a sucker to take them--or perhaps someone who needs fill in the area.
I am getting "thousands" or it seems that way of airport shops, same ones over and over..I have written to get off their list to no avail. There is one MSC that only sends me airport jobs of late, I want their other job, but can't get it, so, I am annoyed with them to say the least. My other MSC sends me a dozen for the same job that I do, but I'm now on rotation, yet, the auto emails still keep coming. This is a game of sorts, trying to find the good jobs....perseverence.

Live consciously....

Ohh, I can't stand that. My favorite is when I receive the "Shop Closed" email surrounded by all the other emails from the same company for a $5 pizza shop.
