required to download software to participate in surveys

just recently i have encountered sites that require software to be installed or downloaded into my pc. this new type of research methodology is taking a step beyond the basics its too evasive.

Does any one else agree?

i get a note asking me to download their personal software, I refuse to participate, and log off the site.

how do you feel about survey sites that require dowloading their personal software in to your pc, not just cookies, in ordrer to participare?

I generally avoid surveys and survey sites like the plague. I do not trust them much and I definitely would not download what is likely to be spyware. There have been several of the companies that I signed up with that my spyware detectors went wild immediately because of tags they had put on my machine just in registering. I stick to mystery shopping and leave the surveys to folks who want to collect endless points that may someday be worth something.
Nope. I would NEVER download software for the sole purpose of participating in a survey site, and wouldn't recommend it. The only exception would be if it's not really exclusive to that particular site, and was needed to view a certain type of file.
thanks for the feedback. I agree and absolutely refuse to download their software just to gain a few bucks, or just a chance to win a prize, its just not worth the risk. i hope everyone else feels the same way, and will refuse this type of research methodology. letsd get the message thru to them. Personally, I feel that they are crossing the line on this one.

mm... i beg to differ on that... i have participated in a couple and have completed several requirements... they usually pay more than the normal run of the mill surveys and some are quite fun...

honestly i couldnt care less about the information on my computer... i have several protections against theft... one is that i have low credit... which makes it hard for me to get anything... i cant imagine what time crooks have with that info.. two i have a credit check company monitoring my credit...

i think if I had good credit i would be a bit more concerned... but as it is I am happy to give out info for money...
