What was your worst Mystery Shop Day.

Well I certainly did my best to show interest as well as give them time to explain their programs. If I was not identified then this particular bank has some excellent personal bankers.

prettygul1 I did both teller and banker shops at this particular branch. I think one of the tellers might have recognized me. I really don't know.
I did a shop once after volunteering at a local hospital. I guess my jacket and official lanyard put the teller at ease as I went undetected. Worked so well that I sometimes wear the outfit just to make it easier on everybody including me.
What I thought was going to be a bad mystery shop ended up ok. I was trying for a couple days to figure out how I was suppose to take pictures of three whole shelves without workers wondering why I was taking pics...then it came to me. I been at the store numerous times for merchandising (small town, only merchandiser around here) and just grabbed my vendor badge they gave me (so don't have to ask them for it and disrupt service desk..I just lean over now, sign in and get my work done) and tah dah..did my mystery shop, took pics needed and no-one asked what I was doing.
Ravenbroom, GREAT!! Wearing a badge etc/uniform really helps. Sometimes I think wearing those nurse Scrubs would be an inexpensive way to divert attention too. I see people wearing those all over town.
Of course the point is NOT to be noticed and if you are noticing nurse scrubs all over town . . . My chameleon effect is to dress like a normal shopper. For most of the year in my market, for my age peer group, that is shorts and bright colored top and no make up. If I have a 'business casual' to do in my route I carry a change of clothes with me.
SO, funniest worst shopping day was one where I was running from one assignment to another. On my last one of the day, I had to change clothes to do an upscale shop after a "lower-scale" shop. I went into a restroom and changed from jeans into my skirt, left on my running shoes until I got back to my car where I slid into my dress shoes. Drove over to new location, went in to complete my evaluation when the manager walked over to me and said "I love your retro look". I looked puzzled, I guess, and she pointed to my feet....yep, I had on one black patent leather slide and one white running shoe.
Worst day mystery shopping? You mean the track and field audition where I had to out-run and out-hurdle an escaped goat at the zoo? Or do you mean where I caught the fallout of a dumping garbage truck at the landfill then managed to take a sink apart at a restaurant when my wedding ring slipped off my hand and down the drain where I was trying to tidy up. Perhaps you refer to the time gunshots rang out in a parking lot and people were diving for cover while management tried to stop people from calling the police because it was bad for the image of the business?

In real life (as opposed to the surreal life of MS'ing) I am a freelance writer. I had a book published a couple years ago and we're looking at our fifth printing. I also edit other people's material (books etc) as well as write speeches, news releases and targeted letters for political candidates running for election.

My worse shopping day was when I got an email from marketforce suspending my account due to fraud. Not only that my shop was voided. my account got suspended and all my pending shops with them were deleted. I was aghast and mad. It turned out that I submitted by mistake a picture from a long ago shop. Shoppers do make mistakes and we are just human however what I don't like was the severity of the punishment I got. I've been a shopper with marketforce for more than 3 years already and have done more than 500 shops. To be accused of being fraudalent was too much. The treatment I got from marketforce was worse, it's like I was dumped to rot in the garbage. I'm so disappointed with this company.

A simply phone call would have cleared up the problem, I think they are afraid to confront shoppers directly.
I tried to call them and was able to reinstate the account however they removed me from most of the shops that I regularly do. I think it happens to a lot of people I have a friend that got the same treatment. They just don't value you as a shopper and once you make mistake they leave you hanging.

FLASH you had an awesome day at the airport. The part of you being escorted by airport security in a wheel chair just made my day.Wow and they say mystery shopping is easy.
There are times when you just have to punt. Certainly it is not in the interest of a shopper to tangle with authorities at all, and in my younger years I found the 'dumb blonde' approach worked well. Now I am old enough that I can perfectly well do semi-senile. Of course the last thing you ever want to do with these guys is be defiant or be clear and rational in explaining what you are doing. That road too quickly could lead to landing on the 'no fly list'. I have also been thrown out of buildings by security for trying to take photographs of the FedEx box, but that is a whole other story. But certainly a major aspect of shopping has to be role playing--whether you are role playing someone with half a million bucks to invest; a person considering the purchase of a $75k watch or automobile; a maiden aunt looking for advice for toys for nieces and nephews or someone who needs the services of a check cashing or payroll advance place. Shoppers end up being all things to all people in order to get it done.
I might have posted this before, but (hopefully) you all probably forgot, here goes. I was doing a bar integrity and coming from San Francisco I noticed the guy/gal sitting next to me looked like a transveste, might have been the colorful pants jacket and scarf and platinum hair cut in a bob. He/she started stroking my shoulder and said he loved my scarf. I was tolerant and controled, however, when my appetizer came and he/she asked if he could share, that was too much. The Bartender noticed, but didn't do or say a thing. This person was drinking way too much and finally left, the Manager came over to me and stated, he/she comes in every couple of weeks, and apoligized for my inconvience. I was told he/she was a big tipper, thus Bartender's do nothing. My report was indeed exact, and the client called me and was mad because I as a customer was not offered a free dinner, free drinks, or nothing that would have made me feel better. End of story, he/she was banned from this establishment, and I can continue without the drama.

Sigh, where's lonely transvestite to go for a night out? Poor misunderstood "thing." smiling smiley

A very popular downtown singles bar in my city somehow became the designated place to go for the transvestite crowd. Later they complained that they were not allowed to use the men's room and of course later sued the establishment for discrimination. The bar owner eventually gave up the battle and changed his bar to a transvestite bar. Roll with the punches I guess.
Happy New Year to all!

I have done a lot of bank shops and feel I will eventually cover all the branches in my state with this one particular bank.

This was not my worst experience, but it annoyed me!
Last week, I had three bank shops for the week. I had to cancel one because #1. We had a big snowstorm and #2. I just was very sick and finally my husband took me to the doctor because I would not go myself and found out I had broncitis. Before I took all my medicine, I emailed the scheduler to say I could not do the shop because I could not get there because of the snow. I failed to mention that I was also very sick. I just sent the quick email without thinking and then went to sleep for about 10 hours. When I awoke and checked my email there was a response from the scheduler with a short, curt message saying," then why did you apply?" That got me so angry that I shot back saying I didn't like being treated like a child, etc.... After another rude response, I just let it go, since this particular bank only had a few branches in my state and was not worth the $10.00 they were to pay me.

I did do the other two on Thursday and am ready for next week..

I hope you don't think I was out of line by cancelling this shop.

Stuff happens, njp394, with weather and health topping the list. You had a double whammy.

I have cancelled only one shop, a college bookstore. I should not have taken it and almost immediately began dreading it. Crowded campus, difficult parking, first week of the semester. Six days before the shop date, I cancelled. The question your scheduler asked you "then why did you apply", could have been asked of me. The MSP is not known to be understanding, but the scheduler was. I was relieved after I cancelled, but I also felt guilty.

Since then, I've rescheduled, if needed, and if the MSP's deadlines allow.
I recently cancelled two jobs, but gave them enough notice. They sent an email saying job was cancelled. No problem, have never had a problem as long as you give enough notice. Both jobs I had asked Kern I would only take if I could get bonus for gas (per this forum ask for more)....no answer one way or another. I told the MSC my reason for cancelling, let them work it out with Kern, who has been very lax lately.

TODAY!!!! well it's not the shopping but entering these stupid photos for Market Force that they are saying are too large. Everyone else I upload photos with have no problems, but for them it's a problem. What would have been a 20 minute upload, I have been sitting here since about 9:00 pm.
What I have found for photos is to create a private album in my facebook, upload them there, and then copy them from there. Then I depete the album. Seems to work to make the size correct for marketforce. I hate doing photos for marketforce, because their "match to question" system just irritates me. smiling smiley
cjohio, the easiest way to upload photos most easily is to take them in a low resolution in the first place. Many cameras can take pics at 640x480 which avoids downsizing and time.
