65 years and older

Where are the interesting shops for this age group? I am tired of banks shops and retirement homes shops. The shops I used to do have an age limit. I'm on the East coast.

Look for parking shops, grocery stores, apartments, financial counseling, new homes, casual dining, gas station/convenience stores, museums, outlet malls, among others. I am well over 65 and stay quite busy.

My mother is 71 and lives in a more rural area of Florida. She does grocery store, Medicare/Insurance, Nursing Home/Rehab and retail. She will occasionally do restaurants. There are plenty of things out there and she could work more if she was inclined.
I still apply for shops with age limitations -- I just e-mail the scheduler and ask if the age requirement can be waived.

Some age restrictions are ridiculous. One was for 59, and was to inquire about a major purchase for a 13 year old son. I e-mailed the scheduler and told her I could do the shop using the scenario that the purchase was for my grandson's bar mitzvah (age 13).

I got a whole route of the shops, through 3 states!
My husband is 65, not me yet but we do all sorts of shops. In my Florida home I do grocery shops, outlet malls, parking, post offices, libraries...really all sorts At my Illinois home I do many more grocery shops (so many more options) post offices, and whatever else pops up. Honestly though in Illinois I can stay totally booked with groceries. I am picky and not a fan of banks, car dealerships or cell phone shops.

Walesmaven, I would never have guessed your age. I check the Forum daily and read most of the forum. You sound so youthful. I am 74 and shop many shops in the East. I don't do video shops or Casino's, I leave that for the young people, even though I go to the Casinos.
MS keeps me feeling young, lol.

I rarely get turned down due to age, some want a young demographic, but 80% let it go if you ask. I've got more jobs this month than I need, best month ever. Going to Vegas, since seniors love Vegas/Casino's, age isn't a problem, wondering how to organize for all I have to do.....but everything is spread out. through the day, with a nightclub late one evening. Dark works....smiling smiley YES, does make one feel young, productive and in tune with the times...beats the senior center.

Oh Irene ! The senior center is no where near as fun or interesting as MS !!

I'm now 65 and have been doing this since 2005. Now, I concentrate on post office shops, groceries, simple audits, thrift store donation/retail shops, Medicare shops, some gas station shops and light merchandising. And that only MSing VERY part-time! So there's stuff out there for you!
I'm 67 and have a full shopping load of various types including banking teller, grocery, post office, banking drive-thru, gas stations, banking platform, golfing, restaurants, did I mention banks, cell phone stores, some retail (not my fave) and more.

That was definitely "tongue in cheek", even I would rather be around ALL ages, many my age can't
and don't do all I do......the senior center for me is depressing, way too many wheelchairs and walkers.
I live in a tri-level, I swear up and down the stairs all day keeps me brittle.....

There are many, but most do not pay well, of course. What is sad is that I am out of the running for almost all focus groups now.
OP...try phone shops of which there are a ton, doing four a day in same location works, or Apt. bldg's., or Business Verification, there are a variety of different jobs for seniors.

I am 68 and have been shopping for 10 years. I still shop all the same types of shops that I shopped 10 years ago. I was a full-time shopper from the outset and am still a full-time shopper. I do every video shop that I can fit into my schedule (except for targets I have already shopped). I have been doing 3 hotel/casino overnight shops per month for the past 3 years. I still do nightclub and integrity shops every month. I still do the filler shops such as quick-serve restaurants. I still do designer clothing shops, shoe stores, watch shops, airport shops, storage units, gas station and other audits, apartments, post office, pizzas, furniture stores, oil change, pool dayclub shops in season, money store shops, jewelers, valet parking, smartphones, gas station mystery, banks, department store, and others. I did these shops when I was 58, and I'm still doing them at 68, and I always have a full schedule. Age affects only a small minority of the available shops in this business.
I am 39 years old but this post is very encouraging for me as I see an opportunity to make money when I will be old.
65 ain't old any more!!!

I’m only 38 but love reading about how busy everyone is 65 and older.. so wonderful to hear! My parents are in their early 70s and I’ve tried to convince them to do some shops to keep them active but so far they don’t really have an interest but they do come out on some of mine a few times a month.. I’m still working on changing their minds lol
Several of the MS companies I work for require background checks and drug tests. Changing your age won't work.
I'm also a writer in addition to MSing and would love to write an article on this niche employment market for 65+ doing mystery shopping. I love the comments I've seen about how it keeps you young, in touch with the grandkids, and in the loop. I wonder where I could find a home for that article... if anyone has an idea, please let me know because I'd love to get some quotes and write it!
Swingline 11 I don't recommend changing your age in your profile. This states dishonesty. I'm not saying you are dishonest.

Lissymaree- I have been involved with computers long before there was a web. Mystery Shopping scares some of the people over 65 if they are not familiar with a computer. Uploading, downloading, PayPal, can and does intimidate some people no matter what age they are.

I am. It's BS like that that make the honest of us have to jump through hoops.

A quick search of your posts shows you have given this advice in the past. It also shows that you only follow requirements when it suits you. You don’t stay the required amount of time, etc.
