new 2 mystery shop...few questions

Hi All,

I just signed up for MarketForce and I noticed that they have several shops for a certain location on different days. Can I apply for all those shops, or would that not be such a bright idea. The second question is regarding the shop fee and reimbursement fee. Now, the shop fee is what the company pays you for conducting the shop and the reimbursement is what you get based upon what you spend, is that correct? I noticed that some of the shops have reimbursement at $11. Do you have to spend that amount, or can you spend less? Thanks for your replies!

Apply for the one you want the most; when you accept the first shop at the one location, the others will disappear and you will not be able to accept them. The $11 reimbursement is the maximum reimbursement. You can spend less and be reimbursed less. If you spend $8.07, you will be reimbursed $8.07; if you spend $11.09, you will be reimbursed $11.00.

Unfortunately, these shops are in a MALL store. The original poster can sign up for 4 shops a day b/c, they will be shopping different departments.

The shop fee is $10-$15. Reimburse is up $11. If the original poster has at least $55 to start the shop he can complete the 4 shops in one day. The rule is there has a foto taken of at least two of the shops.

I have done this shop. There were at least 100 shops, the only thing different was the departments. They did not disappear, unless that department is assigned. The other departments waits to be assigned.

If the original poster does sign up for the four shops make sure he keeps is info straight regarding each shop----associates name and description, interactions, receipts, and times.

I genereally set aside 09 am to start the shop snd try to be finished by 12. Except for the departmwnts, the basic guidelines is the same.

Also there is nothing in the guidelines that says you cannot overlap times frames so...........
With Marketforce, reimbursement varies too. With some shops, a reimbursement may be $5, but when you look at your paperwork, you will see you have to spend a minimum of $5 for the shop to be valid. I messed this up once. It was a discount grocer. So always read evertything, so that your report can be correct.

That's ok AM. Fast casual/FF shops will disappear.

When Divine (the OP) mentioned MF, I immediately knew what shops she was referring to. I watched those shops for a month b4 signing up. On one of my visits out of town I checked out the location.

The day of my shop I purchased memory cards. I took the cards to the different departments to purchase.

I needed purchases small enuff to carry around for 4 hours. Plus I had to take the subway home. I did not want bulky packages. The receipts showed the different time frames and purchase.
I think sojo means they are moving toward video shopping and that this may be the end of the quick easy MF fast casual shop. I have seen the fast casuals shopped by another MSP as video shops recently. Although, MF has posted a lot of fast casuals this month, I am doing 3, a friend is also doing 3.
AM,
Who have you seen doing video fast casual shops, please?

I did not start that rumor. A post or two back a week or more, was declaring video shops illegal. I don’t know. I just know I would not feel comfortable doing them if some law was being broken and it wind up costing me more that a shoppers fee and reimbursement.

Are they really moving to video shopa for fast casual/FF?

I have way too much time on my hands..
I have seen e-mails looking for shoppers to do video shops on the fast casual that MF shops. I did not pursue it because I have no interest in doing video shopping. I know some shoppers I know of and admire (walesmaven comes to mind, she dis very knowledgeable about video shopping) do it and like it, but I just don't want to. I too have heard that they may or may not be illegal..... I would be distressed if MF lost the fast casual. I LOVE the fast casual, even on the South Beach diet (I order the 2-patty, take one bite of the bun and throw it away; eat 2 fries and give the rest to my dining companion, then eat the burger, onions and mushrooms). And MF has a dead-easy report. I would be sad to lose this one.
Irene,
They are not illegal under all circumstances in California. However, most video shopping companies have been reluctant to jump through California's version of the legal hoops necesary to do legal audio recording with both party' consent in that state. A few have done so and regularly perform recorded shops in that state. Once again, it is NOT the video that is a problem for consent; it is the fact that an audio recording is also happening. According to a federal court ruling, there is no expectation of "video privacy" in the public arena. In DC and 36 states there is also no problem with doing audio as long as at least one party (the shopper in this case) has consented to audio recording. In 13 states, simple written consent from second parties (employees, in particular) is sufficient. In California the interpretation of "second party consent" in employment situations is much, much more complicated. What appears to be limited there is not an absolute bar on audio recording but, rather, a limit is placed on the uses to which such recordings may be put in employment discipline and similar cases.

Thanks for the info., still sounds too confusing for me to take it on at this point...perhaps in the future.
