Steve, it would be awfully nice of you to tell us the names of these two credit card companies. Thanks.

Regarding the cards; One is my industry credit union and the other one is Barclays Bank. I believe it's the Experion score they offer. It's not FICO, but it's usually within 10-15 points of my FICO score, so it gives me a good barometer for where I'm at.

Neither of these cards offer points so I paid them off and stopped using them for a while....and the score disappeared. I found that you have to place at 3 charges a month on the card to get the free score. I guess that's their perk instead of air/hotel miles. I was looking into switching my Barclays card to the Virgin America card they also offer and they told me I would loose the free credit tracking.

For the timeshare, you need a 650 score, so if you have anything over 700 with any of the agencies, I think you are safe to assume it won't be a problem to qualify.

The timeshare shop doesn't offer which agency they use for the checks. I would ask, but I just did that shop a few months back and am out of rotation for it anyway....
It just amazes me that something as shady as the timeshare industry actually has enough potential customers that they can afford to prescreen anyone. Granted I haven't dealt with them for a couple of years but they used to require little beyond breathing.
Wyndham is pretty respected here. I guess their tired of giving away freebies to those that have no intent to buy, I totally understand it. My Bank does NOT offer credit printouts and never has. I doubt if my American Express card does...guess I'll have to pop for the fee and remember to cancel.

Live consciously....
Best place to get your real FICO score is MyFico.com. No, it's not free, but you will get two out of your three scores (Equifax and Trans Union; Experian does not sell scores to the public any more) for around $25. There are always coupon codes floating around, usually posted to their Twitter page.
JUST read about this site in a www.lifehacker.com newsletter. (Trust me, not what it sounds like, and it's a great, innovative site, filled with handy knowledge -- sometimes relevant, sometimes not, but always interesting!)

Free credit SCORE available through [www.quizzle.com] No credit card needed.
