Too much information...

I just hate it when I try to do the best job possible and the shop gets returned to me for having "too much information." As an example, I just did a couple of comic book shops. They just paid ten bucks each, but looked like they were so simple and easy to do, I took both of them. Well, the first one I did was just that, in and out in less than five minutes, take a picture of the front of the store and, because it was in a mall, a picture of the mall's sign. Then off to the 2nd one... the address seemed a bit strange to me, but I headed in that direction. After going back and forth on a street I go down all the time, I realized the address for the store given was for the UPS Facility here in Fresno! So, I called the number given for the store. It had a different name, but it was a comics place, so I asked for the address and headed over that way. I took a picture of the UPS facility to show that that was what was located at the address given... I thought they might like to know that. Well, I drove across the city to the store and it was in a scary, run-down strip mall covered in graffiti and with a big window boarded up! I went in and asked my question but the guy working said he only knew about the sports cards, that the owner of the store who knew about the comics was out and would be back in a couple of minutes. Well, I didn't really feel comfortable in the tiny store that had a gaming table set up right in front of the store and had about a dozen grungy teenage boys gathered around it, but I waited a few minutes, just to give them a chance. But, enough was enough and I left, taking a picture of the store. When I got home and did my report, I put in all the explanation about the store and address and uploaded both pictures. Well, the report got sent back to me twice to remove the UPS picture and to remove the information about the store's name and address being incorrect. So, instead of a 10, I got an 8 on this shop because it had to be returned to me twice for corrections. HATE IT!

At a certain point, when a company chooses to turn a blind eye to errors pointed out to them you have to wonder whether they are worth working with. Clients provide the addresses and phone numbers. One would think that as a courtesy they would pass along that information about the address being a UPS office. I did 2 shops this weekend that "didn't work". One has already been accepted and processed. The other is in limbo and I'm watching my email and waiting for the phone to ring. The level of grief given will determine whether I work with this company further.
I did a gas station last week where they are located on the county line. The post office changed their address SEVEN YEARS AGO! The gas client still didn't have it right. It took me forever to find the location because it even had a different city name. I drove miles and miles looking for it and then a local told me about Sal's Donut Shop being a gas station and where it was. I was able to go straight there but when they gave me their address, of course it didn't match up. That one station cost me about 3 hours of driving and hunting plus I had to pay an extra motel bill in order to finish up everything on my list that it had cost me.

I put it all in my report and it was accepted but you think it would have been changed years ago.

Steven, I'd go up the food chain on that one. An 8 just isn't right, considering.

Ron, was that for Maritz? Maybe you can contact them about what happened and how it cost you extra. Who knows, maybe they'll give you a bonus. They seem to have deeper pockets than some MSC's when it suits them.
I've arrived at a location only to find out that it is closed. The business next door told me where the new location was, but I didn't go. I accepted the assignment and went to the address provided. After that point, it wasn't my fault. I submitted the assignment and still got paid. This has happened a few times.

Well, my average is still a 10 and I don't do a lot of work for the MSC, so I'm not going to worry about it. It's just frustrating when you try to go above and beyond and then get kicked in the *#&^@ for it!

I accepted a cell phone shop evaluation but when I looked for the store in a very long strip shopping center it was no where to be found. There were a couple of vacant storefronts where work was going on but no one around. I reported all this to the scheduler who later got back to me and said the store was not due to open for another month or so. I did get paid 2/3 of the fee for attempting the shop.
In regard to your dilemma, I would have written to the MSC about the address, etc., rather than put it in the report. That said, deductions for that reason are pretty ridiculous. If it were me, I'd write to the scheduler, and apologize for putting it in the form, but explain that you weren't sure how to handle it. I'm pretty sure I know who this MSC is, and in my experience, they're fairly reasonable.

One of the things I like about Beyond Hello's forms is that there's a space to put things just like this, an area that's visible to the MSC, but not to clients. It's actually pretty smart, considering that it will not interfere with editing.
NSS also has a place on the form for things like this. That's one of the things I like about them.
