H&R Block audits - anyone done it?

Description says it's an "announced audit" and will require unto 40 minutes and 5 photos. Announced - do you call the location and say you're own your way? Do you just walk in and tell them? Any reactions from the store manager when you do it? Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

They are very easy. You do not tell them ahead of time that you're coming. You can call for directions and/or hours. No inside photos. Usually only exterior of windows, signs and sidewalk signs. If manager or person in charge is available immediately, it is a 15 minute check once you know what you're looking for. They sometimes get nervous about it, so I try to relax them. They've been doing them for years and are used to having the audit completed. There's a phone number the office needs to call for verification before you proceed. If it's not authorized, they aren't supposed to let you proceed and you leave without doing it and get full pay (at least I have in the past). I prefer to wait til the fee goes up to do them, however.

MsJudi, thanks for the feedback I appreciate it. Interesting - the client orders the shop from the MSC - - but there's been times where the client doesn't authorize the shop? I'll monitor the fee - if it goes up a bit I think I'll try this one.

Agree with Miss Judi, they're not hard but you're better off to wait a little bit cuz they will go up in price. This is a franchise so it's possible that the corporate team is ordering them and the franchise is not accepting or not allowing the audit. I'm pretty sure it creates a ton of headaches for the franchisee if they decline, just like the gas station shops.
I don't know why some are not authorized, but I've run into it several times, particularly early on in the month.

I did these last year, and just signed up to do two more in January. They are easy. If you go in relaxed and at ease, calm voice, you'll have no problem with the locations. They are easy.
I've done these audits. They're pretty simple. Wait a little while for the bonuses don't rush out and do them for 10 bucks.

Thank you for starting this thread. I was wondering the same thing.

FYI it's worthwhile to call ahead to make sure you aren't gonna show up when they're super busy or at lunch or something.
