Client won't stop calling me

I did a shop last week where I had to give the client my contact info. They have called me SIX times a day and have left SIX messages per day asking if I am still interested in their services....grrrr!

I use google phone for that reason.I also have a recording that sounds that thanks the caller for calling. The health club shop calls many times. You might want to call and ask them to stop calling.

I once gave out my real telephone number when I first started shopping. I learned my lesson quick enough.

I did a new car shop a while back where "John" left me sitting at a desk while I was shopping for a $35,000 car. He went to a car where his wife delivered his McHappy meal and he came back to his desk to eat french fries while discussing my car questions. Then he had the nerve to call me six times a day and when I stopped taking his calls, he had his manager call for several days. Haven't done a shop like that again since. I don't want idiots calling and pestering me.
That sometimes happens with me. Just tell 'em you found a place to live/bought a car elsewhere/decided not to purchase right now.

That is annoying!

I second Google Voice. If they reveal their caller ID, you can have their calls sent to voicemail directly. No rings to bug you.

You can do this on many cellphones, too.
I only give out my google voice number. When I was a newbie I gave out my number on 2 different occasions and I received tons of calls a day.
I have two cell phone numbers and one is for my shops that I only take messages on. It keeps me from having to take phone calls like you are speaking of. They usually will not leave a bunch of messages. I go through them though for my followup calls that I need to report. I think this extra line is now running me about 7.50 a month + fees. It is an expense that I can use for taxes in that the only time it is used is for business.
Next time, use a disconnected phone number from alocal business which has closed down. When you dial the phone will ring forever with no recording stating that the number is out of service.

Unfortunately, for many shops, you have to give out a real number and report any follow-up call you might get, so that doesn't work.

Really, check out Google Voice. It's free. There's no need to pay for a second line.

In particular, check out the video about blocking calls. smiling smiley
Yes, I have a Google Voice number... I've used it on a few occasions, but I find just telling the caller I have no further need for their assistance will stop the calls. "I've found a great apartment to rent. Thanks for showing me yours." "I decided to buy a Chrysler, but thanks for the test drive." " Thanks for showing me your model homes, but I've bought a house in the Maplewood neighborhood."

What's a google voice #...gosh, I'm behind, but running as fast as I can.

Live consciously....

Nothing has been more effective for me to end phone calls from a car salesman than,"Thanks, but I bought a XXX instead."
That has not worked with a Toyota dealership I shopped in early 2008. The guy has called and asked if I still liked my XXX 6 mo after I bought it. He has followed up even through a change of phone number, including not long ago to remind me that my 3 year warranty on the XXX is about to expire so I should come in and trade it because the repairs will be very expensive once it is out of warranty. I have repeatedly told him not to call be back and threatened to not even consider Toyotas in the future. He just doesn't get it.
Irene, if you reference the YouTube link I posted above, you'll find a great video overview of Google Voice and how it can be used. Hope that helps.
