Hero Citation

Do MSC really think we place a lot of importance on "hero citations?" Perhaps some shoppers do, but I don't. Hero Citations are pretty much "Hey, we really need someone to do this shop, but we don't want to pay any extra."

I won't do a shop simply based on hero citations. Show me the money!

That has certainly been the sentiment of folks on this board. Of course relatively few shoppers ever find forums at all and there is a good chance that without input from others, a 'Hero Citation' may be just the recognition they want to feel like 'a part of something'. My reaction is that I am running a business and the citation is pretty useless. If the job was not worth doing at the listed fee, it still is not worth doing at the same fee unless you can actively negotiate some other benefit, such as being awarded other shops you have requested.
Here's the funny part. This MSC gave me an 8 out of 10 on one of my reports for something that I considered nit-picky. And I was doing them a favor by even doing that job. They called begging for me to take the job.

Maybe this company gives deducts points only so that we may be swayed to accept the "Hero Citation."

Maybe I should offer my daughter's babysitter a "hero citation" instead of actually paying her to do her job. Think that would work? winking smiley
You can't really tell if they have been applied to your score anyway. If you have done a few shops and have an average of 8 or 9, one score of 10 isn't really going to change that. I helped someone out and got a HC, but not not sure if they even applied it.
I noticed that these hero citations being posted do not even offer a bonus. Some individuals feel important by accepting these shops. However, I really think the hero citation is just a way of a mystery shop company getting a free ride.
It's just like those paper certificates they gave out at school to give honorable mention to all of the kids in vaious catagories. As a child it was certainly beneficial to the ego, but not so 50 yrs or so later. Money is an outstanding motivator.
I recall one company who had these great shops and not so great shops so if you took the not so great shops, they put you as a hero and first dibs on the great shops.

When my shops are nit picked now. I won't do them anymore. They will come calling for you to do them. I just passed up my biweekly grocery shops because of the nit picking. My hubby looks in the pantry and says why didn't you go grocery shopping today. Got a call of them asking me to take a shop so now we are back in business.
Promising me a citation worth the equivalent of one, or even two 10's is bull hockey. I work for fees and useful reimbursements.
"there were certs for A students.. even B students... EVEN C students... there were certs for A-B students and B-C students... but for Tom who was an A-B-C student there were no certs..." Sad.Tear.Cry.

Honestly though i was more concerned that my teacher (Mrs. Nwabooty) took my Michelangelo ninja turtle away... and i never got it back... i have one now though... found it at salvation army... TAKE THAT FOUL FIRST GRADE TEACHER!
