Other ways to connect with Shoppers

Hello,

Although this has been a go to for discussing shopping and the industry, where else do you connect with other shoppers?

This is it for me, and it took me four years before I ever posted anything here. I abhor social media, but perhaps it's time to dip my toe in and see what's out there for MS networking.

If your path dictates you walk through hell, do it as though you own the place. -unknown
No toe dipping for me! This forum is my limit. I have no desire to meet people or make "friends."
I don't like people. I don't care to meet any of you except maybe cease (speaking of.. has anyone heard from her lately?). I have enough competition for jobs here, especially since the lockdown. It seems as if everyone in this state and 3 bordering states has decided that my part of the world is theirs for the picking. I don't know why anyone would go to another state to take all the jobs at base pay though..
I just recently joined up here. This is my only social media outside of LinkedIn and I guess you could count the selling platforms I use. I left Facebook and Instagram many years ago and haven't looked back. Someone just asked me tonight why I don't sell on Facebook Marketplace. Simple answer: Not worth the extra money and might end up having to deal with people in person, which I don't want to do either. When I did MS and audits years ago, I belonged to another forum. I can't remember the name.

Gosh but the brand new station by my house was sooo easy. I made $10 bucks in like 20 minutes. If I can mulitply that times 50, that's $500 bucks!
Barefoot Bliss,
Which FB MS groups do you like?
The few I have previewed are like the "Mystery Shop Job Board" on this site. I haven't seen any that compare to the information sharing on this site.

I'll see ya soon when I'm picking in your part of the world! Haha!

Hi Jeff, I prefer any of the groups run by IMSC on FB.

MSPA Conferences and some large MSCs have selected shoppers on travel assignments. We often meet up to do those shops together (arranged by the MSC).
Huh? Could you explain this, please.

All of it. I don't understand what you are saying. Could you phrase it differently?

Here is my input...

Are you familiar with the MSPA? Mystery Shopping Providers Association. They are essentially an accreditation organization. If an MSC is certified/registered by the MSPA, they adhere to a certain set of standards and as a shopper, you can feel better about sharing your SSN for an example.

They have an annual meeting--Shopperfest or something like that.

Not only does the MSPA do this but heavy hitters in the industry--big MSCs have theirs as well. You can network with other shoppers, learn their tricks and get advice. For example, I'm completely lost on paying taxes. Totally lost. Lost like Noah's Ark.... If I were to go to one of these conventions, I probably could find out how other shoppers do it.

She’s doing great and in California, staying with a friend while she has surgery on her hands. Idk if she took a computer with her to use, since she more than likely only knows how to log into the forum on a pc or laptop.
Anyway, she might be gone for 6 months.

Cute

1. I’ve met numerous shoppers over the years at mspa conferences. It’s nice to put a face to an online name.

2. Some MSC’s have sub-groups of shoppers. We work on special projects together. Sometimes, they will fly two of us from different cities to meet up at a restaurant, resort or casino to work as partners on a series of shops. So, maybe I will fly from San Francisco and my partner will fly from Chicago. We will meet in Dallas to do shops together. Flights, hotels and per diem paid by MSC. I am in a few of these groups. I think that I have met 20 shoppers this way. A couple of shoppers were removed over the years. One for being weird (eccentric might be a nicer word to use), one was stinky as heck (the client complained, although I know he still works for a hotel shopping MSC), and the third guy arrested. Generally they are all “smarter than the average bear”.
