Eye exams and glasses

Do any companies shop eye exams? If so, how well do they reimburse or pay? Thanks.

Once upon a time, I did an eyeglass shop at a huge eyeglass retailer. I don't remember which MSC. I got paid something like $20ish for the shop, and reimbursed $200 for the purchase of the glasses that cost well over $500.
I saw shops not too long ago for Stanton Optical, but I don't recall which MSC had them.

I've done them for LensCrafters a few times years ago with a MSC that has changed names now. I haven't seen any in years, but I've found a better deal...much better and with no reporting....at Costco Optical. With my Rx, plus the extras I wanted like progressive plus transition lenses, the glasses cost well over $700 at LensCrafters even with a AAA discount and the reimbursement from the MSC. I got two pairs, one RX sunglasses plus regular ones at Costco for under $200 with my insurance reimbursement.

In the past, I've done shops with elitecxs and intellishop for eye glasses. As judi stated, you may still be able to find a better deal at other places. Sams club offers similar to Costco.
I’ve seen them monthly on iSecretShop. They used to be a lot more when they reimbursed for the glasses. It’s $70 flat now in my area with a small bonus at the end of the month. The eye exam is free.
Did one when I was first starting out to build experience.

Haven't thought about doing them since then, as it's considerable time and work for the compensation, even if you're saving money on something you need.

I'm a big fan of Zenni Optical. It's an online eyeglass retailer. You just upload your prescription. They are very affordable. They also have the option of upgrading lenses and adding all the doodads if you want. I just bought a few pairs as a Christmas present to myself.

I have a vague memory of Intelli-shop offering an eyeglass shop years ago, but was never selected for it.
Have you used Zenni for bifocals? I was wondering if there were many issues with getting the placement of the bifocal part correct.

No, I haven't used it for bifocals. Is there a way for your optometrist to put those measurements in the prescription? There are several fields for measurements when you order. Not all of them are mandatory, but I imagine bifocals is something that can be done. Some optometrist try to push you to order through the office, but just stay firm and ask for the prescription.
Costco did not take my Medicare Advantage optical. I still paid $360 for 2 pair of progressive with everything and transitional on one pair. The price for a reader only pair of glasses was $225, which I paid $25. One pair matching Costco specs would have been $364 even with $200 off due to insurance coverage.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I order my progressive bifocal glasses from Zenni and have never had any problems.
