Valero Diesel Pumps

This new round of Valero's and their editors have me so stressed out I'm going crazy. I have been doing Valero's since they were with the old company (miss them so much). Way back when, I was told even though the app & guidelines say the diesel pumps need to be separate to require a photo, take one of the combos anyway and add it to the report. So I did for YEARS, and then I was getting the jobs returned telling me to take off the diesel photo it was not required. So I stopped adding it unless it was a separate pump. Since the beginning of this year I have had so many returned to me saying the location sells diesel I need a photo of the diesel pump. I responded that there is no separate pump only the combo's therefore no photo is required. They always tell me to look at the guidelines which say to take a photo of the diesel pumps. I look at the guidelines and there is nothing on there. In fact, for the past year, our guidelines have been pretty much useless. So I take a screenshot of the app for the diesel pump where it clearly states (if separate). Apparently, the editors have a different set of guidelines than we do. One editor told me yesterday to be sure and select diesel on the amenities list even if there is no separate pump and not worry about a photo. Then this morning I got another email telling me I need to add a photo of the diesel pump. It is so frustrating.

Yeah, a lot of inconsistency. At this point I just take a gazillion pictures of everything since that extra time is less than the time to drive back to the location.
Exactly. They will say the guidelines have changed to require this now, when they have not changed at all. I think the problem is the examples of required photos show a combo pump, but whoever wrote the guidelines failed to list the gasoline pump as a required, only diesel and alternative. So by this logic gasoline pumps are not required, but obviously that is not the case. So far it has been only one editor.
I had one editor send it back because I took a picture of a combo pump instead of just the plain pump. I told her the instruction says a "random" pump. It does not specify what pump just random. I never hear back when I call them out on their inaccuracies. But I am going to start adding photos that most of the editors do not want and let them sort it out. I also got called out by an editor for adding "too many" pictures of problems. They stated one photo is enough to show that the entire location was covered in graffiti.
Yes. Whoever is updating the guidelines (this goes for many shops), is using the same format from a previous set and not really checking closely the photographs on the previous guidelines. They do not want to or maybe do not know how to reload photographs. Or, they notice there should be new photographs that have new proportions that might cause a complete format change. (Oh well, then do it). So they just update verbiage and quickly attach it to the shop thinking they have done the task. Just do the job correctly like you expect our shops to be done. It only adds more confusion to the editor who has never done this work. Not to mention the futile back and forth emails between the shopper and the editor. And the PM does not realize the guidelines were not really complete, so they think the shopper that complained must not understand the shop. Take a moment and read the guidelines and scrutinize the photographs diligently, PM, and compare with the shop form to see if there is a valid problem. Quit skimming through emails and not addressing the issue.
For me, I wish the guidelines were more in-depth. It is hard to know what they want. The guidelines are so vague.
