Video apartment shop

I did the search and couldn’t really find an answer to this question. Are the apartment video shops worth it? Or are they a huge pain?

They are only worth it for a big bonus. When the companies were providing the camera rig I would do them once the job pay reached $175 or more.

I no longer do these now that the MSCs require shoppers own the camera getup. I can't justify the expense.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
The video shops are worth it. I paid for my equipment in my first month. It depends on you whether it is worth it or not. However, I have to travel to where I am doing video, so it needs to be more than $30.
I have done hundreds of video apartment and new home shops. The video apartment shops are definitely worth it, but I would never do one for less than $50, and I usually get more than that. Apartments are usually a 20--30 minute gig and little to no narrative to report. Some companies are better than others. New home shops take longer, usually 45--90 minutes and pay better.
I love apartment video shops, and can knock out 3-4 a day at $100-$200/each on a route. The trick is to build a relationship with a scheduler or company owner, and to be able to travel quickly to bonused locations.
As it applies to all apt. and new home shops, the fees I see today are at or below what I was paid 10 to 15 yrs. ago. My last new home work was in 2020, 4 apt. visits in 2023 and video work the same yr. MSCs are, as they should, paying according to the capitalistic concept of the market place.

For many yrs. dependability and compositional skills were in need; I was able to command my fees. As with all facets of commerce, though, situations change and one must be flexible to succeed. The overwhelming bulk of my shopping work is now restricted to category 3, the defrayment of travel expenses.

I do NOT criticize shoppers who are willing to work today for yesterday's money, as each must work according to their needs.
All of the video apartment shops that I do still have a significant report to do. There is no difference between the non video report and the video report. It's the new home shops that almost always did not have a significant report.
