Convenience Store Shop Go-To Purchases?

I waste way too much time agonizing over what overpriced, unneeded item to purchase. What are some of your go-to items? I would love suggestions for items other than junk food. I am referring to shops with a $5 reimbursement. Thanks!

Protein bars, protein drinks like Core Power, Fairlife milk, two fig bars, and I even get popcorn. I love the two for a dollar single serve popcorn for my lunch or snacks. If they have fruit, I will get that, too.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I get a couple bottles of water every time. I stock up our drink fridge, the boat, etc. We have middle school aged kids who constantly have friends over, so I find it handy to constantly have bottles of water on hand. And it takes all the guess work out when I'm in the store. I'm extra happy when they are doing a 2 for 1 special, which is frequently...so then I get 4 bottles!

I get it. Instead of buying something I need, but at two to three time the price I would pay at the grocery store. I look to splurge on an item I otherwise wouldn't consider spending money on. Like a different kind of fruit juice, a coconut milk drink, a bag of jerky, a specialty drink or food I would like to try but am afraid I might not like, stuff like that.
On the shops that only have $1 reimbursement, I usually get a tube of Planters Peanuts for $0.75. Higher reimbursements I usually get a ginger ale or a hot dog off a roller grill.
For $1 shops I look for Lindor truffles first, but those have gone way up in price. I try to scan the counter area for "penny" candy stuff.

For $5 or greater shops I'll usually snag twofer drinks or a 5-Hour Energy, depending on current inventories.

Have synthesizers, will travel...
For the $1 reimbursement, I buy a tube of peanuts and when I get enough, I make peanut butter. Also I save a lot of the items and send a care package to my college-age grandchildren. The cheese crackers are sometimes about $99

I don't see the $5 reimbursement very often, but when I do, I get water.
For the $2 reimbursement, last month they had Pop tarts 2 for 1 for $1.79. I could just buy the one and then keep track of the weight and use them for my USPS shops.
Most convenience stores have a basket of fresh fruit near the front counter. Apples, bananas, oranges, etc. They're usually around a dollar a piece. I go with that or tubes of nuts, though the last two times I went to the counter with nuts I was charged a higher price than what was on the shelf tag or tube. Prices changed and haven't been updated on the tag, I was told. I was eventually charged the amount on the shelf tag or tube.

I'm with mystery2me. Why spend $4 on 2 bottles of water when you can get a case of 24 for less (on sale). The exception is when it's been a long day and I've underestimated the amount of filtered water brought from the home tap. In which case, I'll get the any size 99 cent soft drink and fill the jumbo cup with fountain water.

When I can find them:

Mike & Ike small box, 3/99c
Tootsie Pops, 25 to 50c
Little Debbie Cake, $1
Pop Tart, $1.49 to $1.89
Cheese sticks, 99c to $1.29
Small chips, 2/$1
Oh Snap veggies, $1.59ish
Bananas, 33c to 99c

I have a snacker at home who lives on candy and junk so most is not for me. Our teeth can't handle peanuts any more.

When the reimbursement is generous, I might come home with a loaf of bread or quart of milk or some needed grocery item but I'll definitely get one of those packaged berry and cheese danishes. That one's my special treat for being a good girl.

And I can't stress strongly enough: CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATES!
When it's $5 and 2 litre bottles name brand soda are 2/$6, that's my go to. I can't get them for $1 each, not even store brand anymore, at the grocery stores.
I got lucky today! Coke 2 liters were 2/$4 so I got something I will use, under budget. So, I guess I will end up with 20 bottles this week!

Now I just have to figure out the what my item(s) will be at the other convenience store I will be shopping. Thank you for all of the ideas everyone.

Don't forget the Hot Tamales 3/99¢
Last one I just bought milk. I just factored in that I was only getting 3 dollars of product for the 5.99 I spent. I was in a hurry and wanted to max the 6.00 limit. I could have done better by looking around, though this station was in an area where everything there is junk and severely over priced. They do except EBT though, as was prominently advertised.
I am ok with going over the reimbursement if I'm able to get a decent deal.
I check the store's app for any deals, or sometimes see if there are any deals in my Fetch rewards app.
I usually grab drinks of some sort but occasionally will grab actual food. When egg prices were really high, the hardboiled eggs at the truck stop $3 for 3 cooked eggs was actually a deal. The chain I shop had their sandwiches on a BOGO in the app once, it came out to $5 for two sandwiches that had a decent amount of lunchmeat on them.

I'll sometimes treat my car and grab a bottle of Lucas fuel system treatment, depending on the pricing. It's usually cheaper at an auto parts store but will occasionally be on sale. Washer fluid can be another good sale item.

Sometimes there are kids toys or items on sale.
If you want more soda, Aisle has a $2 rebate on Starry. The only thing better than being reimbursed for your purchase is also getting a rebate winking smiley
Some odds and ends I have gotten with the higher reimbuirsements:

Fix-a-flat cans. I like to always have one in my car.

Fishing tackle. Careful getting for others, anglers can be picky.

Sausage or other preserved meats. I treat it like a coupon.

Energy drinks. I give them away to family. When on special the price is similar to the grocery store.

Coffe drinks. They are about the right price, and again not too much higher than the grocery store.

Eggs if they are fresh and I am close to home.

Watermelons if they look decent.

Fresh homegrown produce. But not onions. I did that once on a long trip. Never again.
Not much of a story, lol. A gas station was selling some garden vegetables. I bought some freshly picked onions for my inside purchase. After a little while driving, the odor became overpowering. I was in an SUV, so no trunk, and I still had most of the day of driving. I could have thrown them away, but I like onions, lol.

Reminds me of another story. I was checking into a hotel near the Gulf coast. While handing me the key, the clerk said no pets and no crawfish. I had to eat them in my car, lol. My car smelled good for two days.
big ol glass of diet soda. or hotdogs with out the bun. both are always the best deals no matter where you go. i dont do routes so just one at a time and very rarely. now i work near by places that get shopped regularly

shopping north west PA and south west ny

I stuck with the soda special today, and have 12 more bottles! What a relief to be able to just grab and go.

I was REALLY tempted by a great special: 2 pieces of pizza, a bag of chips, and a 20 ounce bottled soda for $5. Normally just the pizza is 2/$5. Alas, I resisted temptation though.

Tomorrow I have a different chain to shop, and their prices are the worst. Maybe I’ll stock up on gum…maybe eggs at one-I think they are down to $4.99.
Small travel comb. Better for short hair than for a long mane, but cheap and easy to pack. Won't smell up the car...
