Annoying when shop is to start right when HH ends

They all kind of do this: the assignment will have a 6pm start when Happy Hour ends at 6pm, and there's a required drink purchase. Or there will be a 7pm start at a place where HH ends at 7pm. Why? Is the service we're being sent to evaluate so drastically different one minute later?

I submitted something yesterday with a bar receipt that was 5:58pm and was admonished for it, meanwhile the budget didn't cover the food, much less the drinks, and there was no pay. So I have to go a few minutes later and pay $10 per drink instead of $5, both amounts being out of my own pocket, because you offer an insufficient budget? cheap freaking bastiches

I am forever afraid they'll offer my guest a senior discount or, worse, just give it. So many of them have it down to age 55 now and are generous with their assessment of eligibility. Of all the things to prohibit, that one that annoys me deeply.

And, there is a Mexican restaurant one I visit sometimes where they have the most amazing images of margaritas on the menu and you aren't allowed to order ANY alcohol but you need to order beverages. I'd choose a beer over a soda as they are nearly the same price but the rules are the rules.
Yup, my bar integrity shop starts at 7 and Happy Hour ends at 7. I hate knowing we could have gotten cheaper drinks 5 minutes ago. I got a military discount on a shop without asking for it or saying anything about the military. I think it was because of my husband's haircut. The editor asked about the discount and I told her exactly that and the shop went through just fine.
I was just mentioning this very thing to someone! They are so skimpy with the reimbursement budget you would think they would encourage it!
One time, I went after HH and the bartender still gave me the HH rate. I was asked by the editor how this could happen. Beats me! That's why we do shops like this to point these discrepancies out.
Just as bad as rushing to TRH to get the Early Dine price and then getting a slow server. sad smiley

I wasn't performing a shop but I was given child rate for my twins once after I was asked how old they were and told them to tell her. They gave an honest answer and she hit the button for child even though they were past the cutoff by a couple years. I guess she felt like she needed to cut me a break?

Oh heck no, I ask for the bill to be adjusted.
